Visited: 26 May 2025 – Dinner My son and I.
We were looking for something quick and authentic local food. But we didn't have much time. Next day early morning has vital appointment at Chennai. So we wanted to have some good food and retire to bed early.
We searched in Google and found this restaurant was closest to our expectations as well as from Ibis Hotel Anna Salai, where we had camped for a day. Walkable distance.
The footpath walk was as exciting as we can get. A new city Chennai, first visit for my son and only second for me, that too after couple decades, was something to remember. Clean foot path, small shops and then a bylane. Within 5 minutes or so we reached the restaurant.
Arabian Food was their forte and had quite a few cuisines which I had never heard of. After deep dive into menu we thought about sticking to good old known dishes. So we ordered Tandoori Chicken and Special Chicken of the house.
Tandoori Chicken, Half, arrived in few minutes. Large chunks, whole Chicken leg and breast. First impression was it looked nicely done. Perfectly tabdoored in a Bhatti evident from the appearance. Both texture and the reddish shade as well as charcoaled edges.
I took a fork first and picked one bite and slowly chewed. Tender chicken, done very well, perfectly marinated and completely non fibrous. This further excited me. I took a large bite and then dipped it in green chutney, which was awesome too, and tasted for fresheness.
It was nicely done combination. Mint chutney didn't overshadow the chicken with its strong smell and flavour. It just played right role. Chicken was roasted well. So the next few minutes were spent without a talk on finishing chicken, occasionally charred edges adding to crunch, the leftover marination and dipping ghee adding their own charm made a wonderful appetizer.
Most of the portion we ate with fork but a time comes with Tandoori Chicken one has to roll up the sleeves and use fingers to pick, turn, bite and polish off the chicken leaving bare bones. To avoid wastage one has to employ fingers. And that's our Indian way too. I like it.
Next was Heaven's Chicken Special Gravy. Perhaps their signature dish. Closely resembled Mughalai preperation. Yellow gravy. Not very spicy.
I could only guess the ingredients because such preprations are house secrets and I am foodie. No chef. Turmeric, cream and cashew paste is my wild guess. Whatever it was chef had conjured his magic in getting the right amount of spices. Perfect blend.
The best part was Chicken was though having little bigger chunks, was not chewy at all. Meaning they source finest chicken from a reputed poultry. I really loved it.
Naan was done well too. Maida. But very tasty. Nothing special to talk about but at the same time it's abundantly clear, that, Tandoori food has really reached nooks and croony of this country.
Post dinner I spoke with owner/manager and complemented them for the food and the reasonable rates.
I would recommend a family visit if you are in Chennai and in the vicinity. Or even my Chennaiian friends who have perhaps missed it.
Good food...
Read moreThe most amazing place for Arabian food.😁😁 Happened to visit while I was in Chennai. I just managed to spot it while I was travelling and decided to eat. Was so flawed by the food that not only came back the next day, with four people, but also took a takeaway the day after! 😁 The first day we had lamb kebabs, which were delicious, then we ordered the Iraqi fish (Iraqi grilled fish called Samak Mashwi 😁😁) which was one of the most amazing grilled fish I’ve ever had ❤️❤️❤️. The Kunafa was also good. 😊 The next day we were four people and we had the most amazing Mandi rice ❤️❤️❤️ comes with huge pieces of lamb cooked in deliciously flavoured, slow-cooked rice that was simply out of this world, words don’t do justice to how amazing it was. We couldn’t even finish it and had to pack it up, four of us, there is more than enough for four people! The next day I took fish and chips and a Kepsa rice as a takeaway. The fish and chips was absolutely fresh, crunchy and crispy. It was delicious and so perfectly cooked, it was really fresh, the fish n chips could truly give competition to the ones you get in England. 😎 and the packing was one that was rivalling McDonald’s 😎😎😎 it was packaged similarly to the style of a happy meal! (And buckets of fried chicken being served like KFC 😁- although did not try 😅 so won’t comment on that, but going by everything else, I’m sure they won’t disappoint either 😁). The kepsa rice was as flavourful and yummy as the Mandi rice if not better 😎👌🏼. They even gave us lovely Moroccan tea on the house. The staff was exceptionally warm and sweet ☺️. They were really courteous, kind and sweet, even to first time visitors like us. 😌 The owner was very very sweet as well 😌😌😊 even when we couldn’t book a table owing to the weekend, he still very sweetly organised one for us when we came in. 😌 The owner of this place has lived and worked in the Middle East during his youth, for a very long time and that’s where the taste and the authenticity of the food comes from. 😌😌❤️❤️ You will not be disappointment, the most amazing food ❤️, the staff is extremely gentle and warm ☺️ and the place is lovely 😌. Will visit Heaven’s Park everytime I visit Chennai...
Read morebeen to this restaurant a day ago...am not goin to talk about the food ...just the service ...each table has 10 rs bisleri or some company water bottle ...we thought this is how they provide water since it was a small bottle and not a 1 litre bottle after finishing we found that all the small bottle are billed ..asked the ,manager why is the bottle being billed since you dont provide normal water for customers.. the manager replied this is the norm here and we provide hot water only upon request...after i mentioned that its a rule that every establishment must provide clean drinking water for the customers only than the manager cancelled out the water bottles
we ate for a bill amounting to 4000 ...and our additional small cup mayonise was charged.. i felt odd like most resturants give mayo free of cost + we billed 4k and still adding mayo of 25 rs to the bill also the water bottle charges made me feel like this establishment wants to make every drop count in their premises ...now with high pricing menu and making business even with petty things i am wondering what else out of the way methods they use in their kitchen to make most money out of the business ...in this era were hotel business are mischievous in food quality and failing some restaurants needs to be at least customer...
