Old Madras Baking Company welcomed us with a warm ambience and smelt of freshly baked items. What better way to welcome someone? The place is well lit, and they have an array of items displayed, like the danish, donuts, croissants, cupcakes and what not! They also have sandwiches to go with your meal, and taste really good. Both the Danish and the chocolate muffin that we tried out tasted pretty good, despite it being a little over priced. They also have slabs of cake you can take home - the carrot cake undoubtedly is my favourite. The Banana walnut and the Choco muffin flavours are also relishing, and worth a try. They also sell a variety of breads and other bakery items that can be bought. It shares its space with Ox and Tomato, so you can always complete your meal with some pasta and dessert from Sandy's! Okay. Confession, I'm a huge baking nerd. I love good bread and it's one of my biggest gripes about Chennai that we don't have many good bakeries.

Ombc is incredible. The cakes are nice, and the sweets are tasty. But the bread is absolutely incredible. It's soft but has a solid crust. The croissant tastes of actual butter. It's finally lets me see how some people can have just a croissant and a juice for breakfast. The butter is filling. The sourdough is fantastic. It's sharp and has an incredible smell.

Bread here does cost much more than just plain wonderbread but you will not regret buying your bread from ombc. It's just so much better, you'll actually not want to eat the commercial...

Bread bread bread!!! That's the best part of this lovely bakery/Cafe! My all time favorite is their fresh garlic bread. It's crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, nice and warm with that delicate garlic flavor. Their coffees are OK, nothing to rave about. Do try their multigrain and whole wheat bread as well.
