Orange Coconut Restaurant offers a genuinely mixed experience: the kitchen staff is clearly talented, delivering some truly excellent dishes, but the dining experience is significantly hampered by slow service and a slightly high price point. Overall, it's a decent place, but be prepared for a wait.
The Food: Excellent Flavors and Variety The culinary highlights here are numerous, with many dishes earning a perfect score. The Tom Yum Soup was a fantastic start, earning a 5/5 for being "pretty good." The Italian and fusion items also shone brightly; the Mac and Cheese Pasta was described as "Top Notch" (5/5), and the pizzas—both the Veg Extravaganza and the Peppy Paneer—were very well-received (5/5 each). A special mention goes to the Rambutan and Ice Cream dessert, which was unique and definitely tasty (5/5).
The only slight disappointment on the food front was the Paneer Tikka, which, while tasty, was noted for having a less generous portion size (4/5).
Service and Value: Room for Major Improvement This is where the restaurant needs serious attention. The service was distinctly slow, culminating in a significant issue where one of our orders failed to arrive for 30 minutes, leading to its eventual cancellation. This level of delay and inefficiency detracts heavily from the quality of the food.
Furthermore, it should be noted that the prices are on the higher side. While the quality of the food can somewhat justify the cost, the slow and unreliable service makes the overall value proposition questionable.
Final Verdict If Orange Coconut can resolve its service speed and delivery issues, it would easily be a top-tier destination based on the strength of its menu. As it stands, it’s a decent place with superb cuisine, but the frustration caused by the slow service makes it hard to recommend...

Mug Shots is a new place located in the heart of OMR. Amidst the IT companies and other chains of restaurants, this place is located in a corner with minimalistic yet attractive hoardings.
The main highlight and the one that will attract you the most is its ambiance. Right from the unique and amazing wall graffiti, paintings and other stuff, everything about the ambiance is great! The lightings are quite decent and there is ample place for seating and for drinks too.
Let's talk about Mug Shot's Food Menu! As the outlet was launched recently, they have curated a good menu to start off with. We were told the menu is being customized more and will be getting a fresh look soon! There are a wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian starters to start off with. We tried quite a few starters and here are the ones we liked and also recommend you to try!
Veg: Mexican Style Nachos with guacamole, Schezwan Chilly Paneer.
Non Veg: Peri Peri Chicken Fritters(Must Try), Fish Sticks with Tarter Dip, Prawn.
You can also try their range of burgers, sandwiches, pasta and more. We liked the Beacon Beef Omelet Burger and it was very heavy yet tasty too. So, you can give this a try!
Another highlight of this place is that they make a sandwich that is exclusive to Mug Shots and you won't find anything such in Chennai city! It is called PINNANI SANDWICH and it tasted great!
They have an extensive Drinks menu too. So, you will find most of the alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at this place.
The desserts menu was not ready yet and we were given Chocolate Mousse to try and it was quite good.
Overall, we liked this place and people in OMR have now got a new place to hang out! Do visit this place for...
Read moreVisited recently and had a fantastic time overall. The ambiance was a major highlight—it was beautifully designed, with lighting and decor that created a lively, yet cozy atmosphere. It really set the mood for an enjoyable evening, and I appreciated the effort put into making the space visually appealing and comfortable.
However, while the ambiance was on point, there were a couple of areas that didn’t quite meet expectations. The DJ selection fell short, unfortunately. The music choices didn’t quite match the vibe of the place, and there were noticeable transitions that interrupted the flow, which impacted the dance floor energy. For a venue with such a promising setup, a better DJ or playlist would have made a significant difference.
In terms of the food, the platters left room for improvement. While they were presented nicely, the taste and quality didn’t live up to the standards set by the venue’s ambiance. The flavors felt a bit lacking, and some items seemed either overcooked or under-seasoned. I was hoping for a more memorable culinary experience to match the setting.
Overall, it has a lot of potential and is worth a visit, especially if you’re drawn to places with a great ambiance. With some tweaks to the DJ and food, it could be an outstanding spot for a night out. Looking forward to seeing if they make improvements...
