Previously I used to be an ardent lover of this hotel. Whenever I pass Adyar, i used to visit this hotel as a family. They used to have a nice ambience with good variety of food exclusively North Indian food. But today , on 15th April 2023, we went to this hotel and was taken by surprise. They don't have any valid parking now. Previously they used to have valet parking. Today being a Saturday, they had lot of appointments itseems. But when I saw the tabels were empty only. Still I gave my name and waited outside. After a while, I got a call and we went inside. They have not changed the interiors. It's the same old hotel only. What shocked me was the Menu. After COVID , now they just have 2 Menus only. Both are BUFFET . Veg and Non Veg Buffets. Means , you ought to buy a Buffer which costs Rs 524 per plate. You can not share the food. If you are going as a family with kids, you are souped. You need to buy BUFFET for each individual. Also a small middle class family with 2 kids would be definitely taken for a ride. 4 BUFFET costs Rs 2096 and the worst thing is, it would be a heavy food for small children below 15 yrs. It is a Lot of Money indeed and more importantly, lot of food would be wasted. So I suggest not to go to this hotel especially when you have kids or elderly people who can not eat much. It's only meant for foodies. Also the management is appointed people who knows only Hindi . Right from the security, the servers are all from North or North East. You hardly find someone who speaks English or Tamil.
Not to forget, when you are spending a lot for their ambience, they don't even think to provide you with basic amenities in Washroom. Today when I visited the hotel, the washroom is in the back side of the building which is far from the Hotel. More over there is no water in the washroom. Imagine a big hotel like RAIN FOREST giving a worst Menu, worst place for parking, worst amenities. Was just wondering how come the Government not taking any actions for such hotels which loots money from people and wastes food. High time, people should avoid going to this RAIN FOREST...
Β Β Β Read moreWe have visited Rainforest Adyar three times and all for dinner. The restaurant is located in the building basement with a narrow staircase. The decor is a depiction of a dense rainforest and all the pillars are trees, with dense vegetation and wild animals here and there. The veg menu is limited (as expected) and the non veg menu is varied. Compared to other restaurants, non veg menu is relatively cheaper for the given items and quantity. All food items are tasty and the serving size is decent. The staff are attuned to the needs of the customers and very affable. No complaints there. They have some toffees and gifts for kids, to keep them occupied, happy. Nice gesture. The open tables are reasonably spaced but the U shaped seating is a little cramped and does not give a clean feeling. Adding to the confusion is the dim lighting due to which one cannot judge how clean or dirty the place is. The hand wash and toilet are at the back side of the building and there is no access from inside the restaurant. The bathroom and hand wash are not clean at all. The management does not seem to consider this as an important part of a hotel. From safety point of view it was observed from outside that the building structure seemed weak and old and it did not seem to be a safe thing to locate the restaurant at the basement of such a building. Also not suggested for people with fear of narrow passages and tight closed spaces. On the later two occasions, it was only due to the insistence of the kids we visited this restaurant. Even though the food and the service are above average, it is doubtful I will visit again due to other factors...
Β Β Β Read moreThe food was mediocre. The ambiance was good. The service was horrible. I entered the restaurant not knowing it was a buffet. I couldn't figure out who was the customer and who was the staff, they were all dressed causually and they were also very nonchalant. They just let me roam around the restaurant like a lost cause. Only when i asked a few staff about the table and price of the buffet did they realise that i didn't have a reservation and asked me to wait for 10mins. Once you are guided to your table, they ask you if you would like a veg or a non veg starters which is served to your table with a 10rs mango juice. I had non veg which had 2 sea food items, kabab and dragon chicken. I don't like sea food, so i asked them to take it back and the remaining 2 dish from which kabab was nice and dragon chicken, i did not like. When i went to get my main course, there were no plates and when a customer who was ahead of me asked one of the staff regarding the same, he was abruptly dismissed by saying "it's there, you need to look properly". The staff clearly forgot to refill the plates if that wasn't bad enough they were also dismissive about it. I had to search for an empty plate and i found one near the counter station. There wasn't alot of varities in buffet. I tried 6 items - butter chicken, naan, chicken biryani, Hyderabadi biryani, veg schezwan noodles, brownies. Out of which i only liked butter chicken and naan. The concept of the restaurant is nice but what's the point if the food and the service is bad i rather suggest you go to Bombay Brasserie which is just a Block away. The cost of buffet per...
