Are you overwhelmed by too many choices? Do you indulge on the first tasty item on a buffet or pace and plan to taste all the dishes? This place will try your mettle and endurance on a lavish south Indian non-vegetarian lunch meal. You select from a list of side-dishes, based on which you name the order. We went with a Mutton chukka meal and a Mutton thalakari meal. This gets you a plate of the item plus unlimited rice and unlimited servings of ten varieties of non-vegetarian gravies, along with the usual rasam and curd with veg poriyals (like we need those). In addition we ordered a Mutton brain fry, just the side-dish and not the meal, as there were only two of us.
The staff were friendly and patient. The menu card is not very intuitive, as I have spelled it out. We had to ask the servers and figure it out. As we finished each item, they asked if we want x,y or z next and took us through all the ten plus a couple of repeats and rasam and curd. At some point in the meal we saw papads being served to some people and being ones not to miss out on an item, we also asked for them. The final item, the peanut candy, was given at the billing counter on our way out. All this for around 300 INR based on the combo you select! Major bang for the bucks.
So, alright, good quantity. What about the quality and taste you say? Full marks on those too. No over stuffed, filled up, bloated stomach feeling, no unwanted after effects. In fact, we decided to walk home and stopped at the Sri Krishna Sweets origin store nearby for some of their famous Mysorepak. That should tell one about how stomach friendly the meal was. Even though the servers asked us if we wanted some cool drinks or lemon soda types, we declined and never regretted.
Go already and enjoy. Just make sure you have the appetite, the time, the patience and the right company.
Next time around that zone, dinner will be tried, tested and evaluated. This time we will be going with high expectations, so let...
Read moreThis is not the Pattukottai Kamatchi mess from Pattukottai. This restaurant has a name SRI KAMATCHI PATTUKOTTAI MESS but the one found in Pattukottai , Thanjavur and Trichy are authentic one and has a name PATTUKOTTAI KAMATCHI MESSS. I had food from Thanjavur, Trichy and even in Pattukottai outlets multiple times. So, I was able to differentiate this one as not authentic as the name suggests.
Rice - not cooked properly felt hard and the Mutton overcooked & hard (maybe frozen and heated next day), chicken with foul smell and all worst to eat. Though, it is not the real one I expected some real flavours in Pattukottai style. It carries only the Pattukottai name in the restaurant not the flavours or tenderness of the meat.
I stopped eating further and washed the hands within 3 minutes and demanded for the bill, which they printed the bill without asking what happened why I didn’t eat and all (seemed obvious that they know their quality is not promising) which usually other restaurants asks you. And, while I was about the pay the bill, I started conversation about the issue but they’re not in a position to listen, shouting, threatening and all. I informed the person who served the food, he was at the bill counter who also claimed to be the manager of the restaurant, and a lady who claimed to be the owner of the restaurant. Everyone, I have told what the issue was and they were shouting at me, and I have to shout back since they’re not listening and accusing all the time long. Finally, they asked me to get out. No respect for the customer, didn’t value the opinion about the food. So, I had no other option but to leave.
My plan was to pay the bill and make a grievance with the food and safety department. But since they shouted and threatened I had to leave before paying the bill. So, I had to write this review here.
Staff behaviour so rude when asked about the food and kept on twisting words, speaking lies, threatening the customer and all....
Read moreVery worst dining experience I visited there on the weekend and ordered Raja Virundhu, this meal package comes with few side dishes along with usual curry options. I was given the option to choose between Vanjaram fry and prawns fry, chicken/mutton chukka. I chose Vanjaram, the waiter said the prices have increased for this fish and it will not be provided as a part of this meal package. Being doubtful I asked the other waiter if we should order seperately, he told it was included in the meal package. Now I asked the waiter again since it was mentioned in their own menu, the waiter now says the item got over, however people in other tables were getting served the same item. Also while taking the order it was mentioned that apart from 2 side dishes selected, we will also be served Chicken 65, but it was not served to us. when asked about it, the owner woman and "the proprietor"(the guy himself told) were being unreasonable to us and shouting, They didn't even have the thought of accepting that the mistake was on their side as their employees were giving different answers everytime or even care to ask us if we would want to order it seperately Very worst management and unpleasant environment for dining Please do not visit this if you are planning to...
