It proudly announces its heritage - since 1995! That's a good 30 years. Even if this is a rebirth.

The neighborhood is good. Quiet. There aren't too many parking slots inside the compound where the restaurant is but this part of Alwarpet is mostly residential.

It's quiet inside as well. Just one family. We sit down at the table and the decor stays with the old world charm. Which may not be a vibe that today's customer may find attractive. Unless the vintage is part of the experience.

The staff are attentive, gentle and polite. And even if there's a QR scanned menu, we prefer the regular ones we can flip through.

All veg as usual. We go for the Manchow soup 🍲, veg stuffed dimsums, a garlic friend noodles and stir fried tofu in chilli.

The food arrives. The soup first, which is hot, fesh and flavorful. The dimsums are again traditional. No fancy paper thin see-through skins. And the spicy sauce goes well on them

The generous portions of both the noodles and the tofu are more than we can finish off. But it's all well made and definitely comfort food.

We really enjoyed the meal. Go with friends when you want to sit down and catch up over a nice leisurely dinner. The soft music in the background is a Chinese instrumental but it barely intrudes.

For about an hour, we did go...

Canton Revival: A Taste of Authentic Chinese

Canton, a beloved name in Chennai's culinary scene, has made a triumphant return to Alwarpet. Though the physical restaurant is currently under construction, their online presence is thriving. The food, a testament to their culinary expertise, is exceptional. The kimchi, a Korean delicacy, is a must-try. It's a flavor explosion that perfectly complements the authentic Chinese dishes on offer. For meat lovers, Canton offers a diverse selection of meat varieties, ensuring there's something for everyone. As a long-standing brand, Canton has a loyal following. Their revival brings back fond memories for many. The same dedicated team that once helmed the restaurant is now back, ensuring the same quality and taste that customers have come to expect. You can now indulge in Canton's delectable offerings through Swiggy and Zomato. For even more savings, ordering directly from their website is the way to go. So, if you're a Chinese food enthusiast, Canton is the place to be. Mark your calendars for the grand reopening and get ready to savor the authentic flavors of China, right...

If you're looking for great options in indo chinese, it's a pity if you don't visit this place. It really does live up to it's name. This is the first time I've been here but my friend's family has been coming for years. Mr. Jagadeesan and his team of staff members is extremely kind, patient and attentive. We ordered a ton of stuff - egg drop soup, roasted chilli chicken, Schezwan noodles, Schezwan rice, chilli cheese wontons, pan fried dismsum in garlic sauce. The roasted chilli chicken was really tasty, so we ordered another round. It's the typical spot to satisfy your chinese cravings at a decent rate. They also served their house salad which was crunchy, light and had the right amount of sauce. The team is extremely hospitalable, the service was quite quick and Mr. Jagadeesan also was kind enough to recommend stuff. The Schezwan rice and noodles had a good balance of spice and were not overpowering. The dimsums were super saucy but not soggy at all. The portion sizes overall was great. Would love to...

The ambience was really good. Service was really quick. Roasted Chilli Chicken Dry was really good. It was so soft and tender like a fish. Had a great flavour. Chicken Manchow soup was good with crunchy noodles. Yun Mein Noodles was really excellent it was soft and crunchy as well and the flavour was good. Crispy Fish with Chilly garlic sauce was really a great combo with the noodles and it was so thin and soft. Canton Noodles with Crispy Fish with Chilly garlic sauce was a great combo. Great Wall Chicken Soup was really delicious & had an awesome flavour. Loved their Beijing chicken which was soft and had crunchy spinach along side it. Must give it a try ! Would highly recommend these dishes.

A historic restaurant that has been around for years and recently reopened after a short break. Found it while looking for Pan-Asian place and decided to try it for dinner, turned out to be a great choice! Right from the warm welcome by the staff to helping with the order, everything was smooth and pleasant. The owner personally checked in to make sure we were having a good time, and the staff were polite and helpful throughout. The menu had good variety, and the food tasted great too. A nice spot in the heart of Chennai to enjoy tasty Asian dishes and spend quality time with friends or family! What we tried: Tom Yum Soup – 4/5 Steamed Chicken Dimsum – 5/5 Yum Mein Noodles (Chef’s Special) – 5/5
