I am going to give this place 6 months to get it’s act together and go back, because there is hope and I hope they will grow to what they can!
When a large restuarant with multiple spaces is much talked about in the media and you pass it a few times every day and it’s a short walk from your home you go check it out. And we did. Let us begin with the food…it was good, but there is hope that it might be excellent. We tried the Caesar’s Salad with Chicken, the Moroccan Chicken Soup and a Toasted Chicken Sandwich (which never came!). Great food comes from top class ingredients, pain in the arse attention to detail, imagination and something that has the aromas, flavours, tastes, textures and stories to bind together into a dish! It was their fourth day and I suspect they have not had the time to work out the pain in the arse obsession, attention to detail that separates the good from the oh my God! I am hoping they will get there. Given the location, the investment and the hype I had expected it to be expensive and it was…but only in the sense of value for money. I hope they will get there.
Which brings me to the service. Same complaints, same hopes. But to be fair some of the waiters who obviously had the training and experience tried to make a difference. But overall service management will need to grow to help this place bask in its possible glory. When you have a large space, a large menu and a expectant crowd of diners what will save you is a good traffic manager who allocated tasks, schedules movement and oversees quality and timeliness…and adherence to detail.
Lastly, the ambience. The outside space behind under a tree is to kill for if Chennai weather cooperates. The front open area is a challenge and I hope they will crack it. The air conditioned inside space was sparse and minimal…and noisy as hell…contributed mostly by us enthusiastic diners! Why architects and interior designers do not worry about acoustics in enclosed spaces meant to hold crowds is a mystery.
Will I go back? YES, but after a few months to let the management and staff settle in and crack it. Do I have hope? YES, and I hope they will do what everyone in the service business should do…listen! Can it be a place that I will go back to again and again? I sincerely hope so. We as a nation don’t take to criticism and feedback well, unless it is positive, but I hope the folks at Bask will because I want to go back and enjoy it as...

We came there on 22nd june under the name Deepa/Rithu for a friend’s birthday.. We did not come there and eat and spend tome free of cost. We chose bask because we heard so much about bask. We dont remember the name of the staff who attended us.. but these screenshots are testimonial to what they did .. they stared and judged us repeatedly, they treated us like we were scum from the lower channels of the society.. we were dressed appropriately and we come from a good background and didnt even think people there could do this to us Sending this as a private text and not publicly because saving you the trouble.
1.We requested the waitress to bring a book (that my friends and i made for the birthday girl) along with the food, she came and dropped it on the table like its dirt The birthday girl was eating homemade rasgulla, that her friend gifted her and was hand made, the staff very very rudely stared at us and told us that we cannot eat, they couldve been better about it We asked for a lighter/matchbox - and they said they did not have one They didnt fill up/give proper water The water tasted like drainage 6.they didnt give cutlery 7.they did not serve us well And other complaints my friends have said as well From my friends who came:
They weren't warm at all Restaurants should always have staff who are warm and help us have a good experience there. They didn't do that 😭😭😭😭
they refused to take a group picture, one of the waiters said he was busy and didn’t have time for it. they refused to allow cake from outside and were reluctant to give a candle/match. in fact, we’d asked them earlier about the cake and they said it’s permitted
they never gave clear answers- they stared us down 😭
They had this grunt look on their face hanging like we were troubling them. They were clearly...
