The Mayflower restaurant has moved to teynampet/Alwapet now.. And after their good run in T.Nagar i did not miss my chance to visit this new outlet of theirs.. Located on the kasturi rangan road in the place that earlier housed English Tearoom.. Has decent parking space..
The interiors are well lit and bright.. The white and green color tint adds to the aesthetics and all in all the dining space has calm and peaceful fell to it.. The seating are placed well apart given the current situations.. And we are welcomed with sanitizers and temp checks..
The Service was quick and friendly with polite servers.. The waiting time is average except for pizzas which took a lot of time.. No other issues..
Given below are the items we tried and my take on them..
Crispy Lotus Stem : Lotus stem is slowly emerging as a regular in veg starters.. Here it was well made with lotus stem crispy fried and sauted in a sweet and spicy sauce.. Must try for sure..
Teriyaki Chicken Skewers : Was presented really well with couple of skewers of chicken along with veggies like capsicum and tomato cooked in a teriayaki sauce and plated on a lettuce leaf.. Quite decent in taste..
Peri Peri wings : Over loaded peri peri flavor in some juicy wings.. Fresh and really good in taste.. Must try for Peri Peri lovers..
Panko fried Chicken with Wasabi Sauce : Slightly a bit hard pieces of chicken fried in panko coating.. Served with a wasabi based mayo.. Perfect combination and it does work only when had together..
Mountain Chili Chicken : A slightly spicy version of the chili chicken.. Juicy pieces of meat well cooked and served well.. Worth a definite try..
Ginger and Basil Fish : Fish was fresh and perfectly cooked and sauted in ginger based spicy sauce along with basil leaves..
Thai Green Curry Chicken : One of the best had in recent times.. This green curry was aromatic and really yummy in taste along with some juicy pieces of meat...Served with some aromatic steamed rice.. Must try..
Nasi Goreng Prawn : Loved this one.. Perfectly plated with a fried egg on top along with fryums and couple of chicken skewers on side.. Really well made with prawn too perfectly cooked.. Another must try item..
Khow Suey : The best in chennai IMO.. The curry loaded with coconut was just mind blowing.. Had some strips of chicken along with a boiled egg.. Definitely and item you should try.. Fried noodles too were good..
Drinks : Tried the Watermelon and Coconut caprioska and kitkat shake.. Both were really well made and i definitely liked them..
Desserts : The Lemon tart and Chocolate tart were just top notch.. Good consistency and really firm.. The taste was just perfect..
The Mayflower has just moved to a new location but all other aspects remain the same.. The food taste, quality all remain the same.. The service too is same as before.. Just that the pricing of items has increased with the locality.. Given all the aspects above i still say this restaurant is...
Read moreWe wanted to try out this new place which had been launched a few months ago. This is a renovated house and has the restaurant in the Ground Floor and the 1st floor which has been partitioned is used by people as co working space. So people using those spaces do not have to venture outside to get tasty wholesome food.
The interiors are painted in brilliant white and the walls are decorated so artfully and all those nooks and corners provide good selfie locations. This house belonged to a celebrity and after knowing the name ( Iam not revealing names, you got to visit to find out) you just cant help but revisit your memories.
To the food now. I decided to have the English Breakfast which is available all day and consists of Toast, Preserve, Eggs made to your specification, Hash Brown, Chicken Sausage, Roasted Tomato and Mushroom and Dip Tea or Juice. I opted for the scrambled eggs and watermelon juice. I went gaga on seeing my scrambled eggs. They were just perfect, so airy and yummy. The sausage, the roasted tomatoes, mushroom were all done to a T. A fantastic breakfast which can be had anytime of the day.Only thing missing was some baked beans which would have complemented it well.
For appetizers we chose the Tomato and Basil Bruschetta amd the Chicken Ham Bruschetta. It was so good with the crunchiness of the bread and the bit of sweetness from the tomatoes and not soggy at all. Coming to the mains we decide to share Spaghetti with chicken meat balls which was a good sized portion with some rustic ,garlic bread on the side to mop up the extra sauce. The Exotica pizza was loaded with exotic veggies like broccoli, zucchini, corn, jalapenos and some grilled chicken. It looked and tasted awesome.
Next we had to try the Malaysian chicken burger which is their take on the famous Ramly burger with its tender chicken patty encased in egg omelette and the whole thing in a soft burger bun. This is definitely a must try dish here.
Though we were pretty stuffed by then we had to try a couple of their desserts . Mr.Raja ,our knowledgeable waiter suggested we go with the Panacotta and the Tiramisu.Loved the soft, jiggly Panacotta with the berry coulis on top and the tiramsu was good too.
It was a great ,leisurely meal in truly beautiful surroundings which will satisfy your...
Read moreA real good experience is what we had this evening along with my blogger friends. The property is located bang on the main road with perfect parking facilities for 2/4 wheeler. I came to know that the first floor has the co-working space concept and the ground floor has this one of a kind restaurant.
The interiors were intricately done by giving importance to each and every minute detail. This would be good for a family get together apart from hosting parties for your friends and colleagues.
They have this swing in the lawn which I fell in love with as soon as I saw it. The walls were done beautifully with pictures/paintings. There were properties across the sections on the wall.
The menu is curated my “Mad Chef” Koushik Shankar. We were 7 of us out of which 5 were vegetarian & 2 of us alone were Non-Vegetarian.
What did we order?
Peri peri wings Onion Rings Kaju Paneer Skewers Purple Chicken Dimsum Three sauce - mustard, spring onion, soya chilli Crispy lotus stem Corn Broccoli dumplings Charcoal prawn Dhimsum with wasabi mayo Panko fried chicken Mexican Nachos Chilli Basil Vegetables Pina Nata Colada Orange Flambo Darsan
That was quite a few, isn’t it?
What would I recommend?
Honestly speaking, all of them but among the drinks, I would ask you not to miss Pina Nata Colada which is a fusion of Pineapple & Coconut. It tasted extra ordinary. To put it in other words, it was out of the world.
Peri Peri wings tasted real good. The secret sauce that was used as the topping, did the magic.
You would fall in love with Purple Chicken Dhimsum & Charcoal Prawn Dhimsum as they looked real attractive & tasted equally good. Both chicken & prawn were cooked to perfection. The wasabi mayo that was served with Prawn Dhimsum was amazing.
The Panko fried chicken was of a different league altogether.
Khao Suey Non-Veg is their specialty. It is served with boiled egg, chicken, noodles & 9 different ingredients which needs to be mixed together before having it. This gives the unique taste which you wouldn’t forget.
The orange flambo darsan is also a “must have”. Ask then for it in specific and see the magic when...
