Chrystal Bowl — Restaurant in Uttar Pradesh

This is a pure vegetarian restaurant and situated at a little distance from the main gate of Banaras Hindu University. Auto-rickshaws are available from BHU gate to this place at prices as low as 10 or 15 rupees (pool). The service provided is very good at the restaurant with the reasonable prices of all the dishes. Just beside the restaurant, there's Ming's Bakery if you are in search of enjoying some good deserts after your meal. Average cost per person (in a group of people visiting the restaurant) will be less than Rs 200. For those who have a problem with eating at the places where both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian foods are served and who need only pure vegetarian food served, this is one of the places you can seek with a very reasonable budget. Also, Kadhai Paneer is one of a must-tries of the restaurant. The restaurant provides home delivery also through both Swiggy and Zomato as for the current time. However the sitting hall is a bit smaller and usually crowded on Saturday nights as the hostellers of BHU fills the place since the hostel-messes are closed on Saturday nights. On the other days of the week, you are not much likely to find this place crowded. The hall is however clean and Air Conditioned and quite comfortable. 2 years ago I had given a rating of 5 STARS.

Not that it matters much but I visited today with someone.

After we were given a table we were told that ONLY SOUTH INDIAN ITEMS were available.

This was disappointing. The restaurant should at least hang a notice outside the door that NORTH INDIAN items are not available and not inform the visitors especially AFTER making them sit.

AC was making a very disturbingly high pitch sound. Shouldn't they take care of that ?

Waiters are not professional. Good waiting doesn't mean only refilling water at every gulp.

Seats were dirty. Had spots on almost every seat.

Seems that the quality of the restaurant has depreciated severely over past 2 years.

I was a regular patron at this restaurant for delivery through Swiggy and will keep myself limited to that.

After a long time I went to Crystal bowl, and let me tell you what a blunder I made. Completely ruined by brother's Anniversary party. It seems as if during lock down they lost their cooks and waiters. And the result was that the main menu is reduced to a photocopy of just three pages with 1/4th of the menu that was there earlier. Waiters don't know how to serve food properly. Cooks in kitchen are using rotten vegetables . The prices have been increased 1.5 times that was earlier. And thus Corona took away one of the good restaurants of our colony. The resturant is just running because of the name that it made for itself before lock down. Personally I wouldn't suggest anyone to go there, but for the name that it once had go waste...
