Ming Garden-Restaurant — Restaurant in Uttar Pradesh

Very bad experience at one of the very famous chinese restaurant in Varanasi. I will try to review in a pointed manner. Below review is completely on my recent visit on Sunday(19th Sept, 2021)

But before I go in detail, I will summerise that Ming Garden was our childhood love and I was personally happy with their progress and expansion. But when I got the service which I hope no one gets then I was literally shocked. They are badly UNDERSTAFFED and COST CUTTING so you may want to avoid weekends. AND we did not get Brownies 1 hour after our order confirmation. So my cry is Real.

As there was rush we waited for 45 mins to get a table for 5 and we had to constantly remind the person about our number, people before also got in and there was no order whatsoever.

We have got a final communication from the person allotting seats that the table is READY it’s just getting cleaned up. They would let us have that in a moment. This was a miscommunication between their team as when we got our seats it was still not cleaned.

Finally we got the seat on the first floor which is supposedly the extension of the legacy arrangements(Yes they are prospering, which is good but the service taking a U turn as they grow). Now, we waited for 15 mins to get the table only cleaned up. May be normal thing for many but a Restaurant of such high standards showing such an uncleanliness is a shock. for ex. forks are thrown on the floor, the used napkins are on the table and just under our table and the food is spread out in such a bad manner(I do blame the customers before us).

Remember we were said that the table is being cleaned up and still we had to wait with such mess for 15 mins & that too we had to constantly call them to clean up.

So, now it’s cleaned up and we order our food like within 10 mins as boys knew what they wanted. Boys planned this place because they knew that. Orders were like soup, some starters, some noodles and fried rice AND BROWNIES with icecream. They agreed and went to get the orders.

Now, if they did not have something they could have said that time only but they did not.

We ate everything well from soup to starters to main courses and all of them were OK and not how they served before. Fried rice was the best and after that was the starters.

Now, we were expecting Brownies to be served BUT they came after one & half hour and said that they are not serving Brownies now. Reason being the icecream has melted because the fridge kept opening and closing. I asked him and we literally pleaded after such a mishap that if anything possible. But they said not possible and this they did not say before because Boys would get up and leave.

Also, they do not accept UPI...

The staff is really really very rude! They ruined my birthday. I used to go a lot and since my friends liked the place so I invited them for my birthday. But the staff is horrible. It was 11:30 am - 12 pm and I was waiting for my friends with my brother and since the restaurant was opened just half or one hour before so there was no one. The whole restaurant was empty. My friends were busy in the afternoon with their classes and jobs so we thought that we’ll have brunch instead of dinner. I was waiting patiently and suddenly one of the staff member came and said that I wait on side and leave the table. The whole place was empty so I was in shocked. I felt really embarrassed... it was like I’m not able to order something and I’m someone who is not able to pay the bills. If the restaurant was full then I can understand but if the place is empty so what’s bothering you?

I told him that my friends are on the way. He left... and within few minutes some other staff came and said the same thing. I was not in the mood to give treat after this experience but as I already invited them so I didn’t had any choice. Later my mom also joined us and we were six persons sitting and having our food on the table of four... still the restaurant was empty!

Later they kept humiliating us(probably other customers as well) like we kept waiting for our order and then not giving our order on time and when asked they replied rudely. Take out order was a mess and after pointing out the staff started misbehaving.

Then for few years we made a distance from this place now in 2020 I went back as I was in India for a trip and took my baby with us.. guess what.. they are still the same just changed the decor! When I was about to leave after finishing my meal then the server gave me my drink.. seriously? I’m waiting for it since half an hour and upon asking the staff they say they are bringing it right away and then 15 minutes just passes by like anything. They are still taking their customers for granted.
