Sonam's Kitchen in Darjeeling is an absolute gem, a small breakfast joint that has captured my heart and taste buds. Every visit to this charming place adds an extra layer of delight to my trips to Darjeeling, and it has become one of the reasons I find myself returning so often.

Let's start with the star of the show—their pancakes and hash browns. I cannot stress enough just how remarkable they are. Sonam's Kitchen has truly mastered the art of creating fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth pancakes that are nothing short of heavenly. With a wide range of delectable toppings and fillings to choose from, these pancakes are a breakfast dream come true. And the hash browns, oh my goodness! Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursting with flavor, they are the perfect accompaniment to any dish.

Their coffee will awaken your senses and leave you craving for more. Each cup is crafted with precision and passion, showcasing the dedication they have for providing an exceptional coffee experience.

In conclusion, Sonam's Kitchen in Darjeeling is a culinary haven that should not be missed. From their heavenly pancakes and hash browns to their exceptional coffee, every aspect of this small breakfast joint is a testament to their dedication and passion. Well if you know about the food scene in Darjeeling you will surely know about 'Sonam's Kitchen'. It's been 23 years since Aunty and Uncle has been running the business. What you get there? A plate full of Love. Her Pancakes were the tastiest I have had since a long time. Or maybe never. Also, her brewed coffee was amazing. What you get apart from food? A good conversation with both of them that stretches from Food to Travel to various aspects of Life. Their smile and love for each other was so obvious on their faces. Being the curious kind, we asked them about their way of leading life, to our surprise they turned out to be so clear headed. They happily admitted that they go for trips every year for atleast 3 months. Whenever they get the chance they just leave for the unknown. Also how both of them helps homeless kids doing Child labour in a regular manner. Her love for cooking was very obvious because no one could have imagined that these food came out of that small kitchen. But as they say, Food comes from Heart and not from fancy kitchens. Sonam's Kitchen is a living example of it. I probably can't remember the last time I was this content with the food, hospitality and warmth. Thank you for a perfect Breakfast experience. Peeps I am sure most of you have visited this, but if you haven't, you must...

Can't find any rating other than 5* for this small and modest place. Had to go through a lot of hardship to reach this place on foot, thanks to Google maps showing a steep road as the shortest route to reach this place. However, this is pretty close to the mall. You need to take the left exit. It will take only 2-3 mins to reach that way. Now, coming to the food and ambience. It was freezing cold and raining when we reached there. The owner Mr. Pradhan and his wife (the master chef) welcomed us and there was a heater at one corner which provided the much needed warmth. We had a hearty chat all along our stay there and it felt like home. We enjoyed the wholesome meal. Apart from eggs and the hash browns, we loved the pancakes which were extremely soft and tasty. One interesting thing is that you need to write down your order on a piece of paper with a pencil. There is a good collection of books which you can go through while having your meal. They did not try to mis-sell anything and guided us all along about the portions and the foods which are not suitable together which was a striking difference from other shops. The ginger honey lemon was also appreciated by my companions. If you are in Darjeeling and looking for a quality breakfast, this joint must be on...

It's quite a hassle to navigate to the restaurant since it's located on a narrow and steep alley. We had read so many praises about this joint on Google Maps that we took the effort to travel here. The place is managed by a wife-husband duo. Both of them are quite wholesome and welcoming. The items ordered are made fresh from scratch, so the waiting time is longer than most other restaurants. We ordered hash browns, fried eggs, cheese omelette, scrambled eggs, and a pancake with banana and honey. The hash brown was quite crispy and tasty. Fried eggs, omelette, and scrambled eggs were as expected. The pancake was huge, with generous amounts of sliced bananas and honey on top. It was extremely soft, and tasted very nice! Probably one of the best pancakes I've ever had. The pocket pinch was economical. The lady (who is also the chef) took time to sit and chat with us, since it was raining that day and she didn't have many customers to serve yet. The overall experience was great. Highly recommended!

Tucked away on a lane going uphill from mall road, it's easy to find on Google maps. It has 5 tables and they get filled up for breakfast. The food is cooked home style and Sonam ( the chef) is singing while cooking, generating a positive energy into the food. Taste is delicious. Her husband Puran takes your order and since the restaurant is open since 25 years, he has loads of information to share with you. Don't be in a hurry to get your food. Sonam ensures its well cooked and takes the time to cook it perfectly. They have lots of books and they will not mind you sitting in the restaurant and nurturing your tea/coffee. Tried their lemon honey ginger drink ..it was amazing for my sore throat. We ordered omlette/scrambled eggs, toast and hash browns. Finished it with banana and nuts pancake with a topping of chocolate. Delicious. It was a very satiated experience and strongly recommend it.
