Careless attitude by the waiter , Poor Value for money , Food Taste different here ( Sweet Foods ) . Had gone to munveedu for a dinner with colleagues . The ambiance was great felt we would have a happy after having dinner , But wasnt happy with what we had . The First order was natukozhi rasam which was ( 99+20 for 1/2 portions ).. It looked watery it tasted watery and literally they have given us hot water with small pieces of chicken. So next we went with natukozhi idichathu , Very less quantity provided ,Taste wise was good but suddenly one of my friend noticed the chicken being too soft and found he had given us Broiler chicken .. I had called the waiter and enquired whether he has given broiler chicken and To my suprise he just took the dish away from us and changed it with natukozhi one . So the idea of the person here is lets provide them with normal kozhi idichathu which is ( Rs 160 ) tell it is natukozhi idichathu ( Rs240 ) and get more bucks . Already the cost is pretty high for the quantity given but cheating a customer like this wont help you stay long in the business . The other orders where mushroom muchuiran and mushroom peper which were good , Main course ordered kheema rice , Veg biryani and chicken parrota . Kheema rice was good with a slight sweet taste which was acceptable , But Veg biryani looked like a schezwan rice but tasted like a sweet . My overall experience i would have given 2.5 or 3 but this person over here tried to cheat me with providing broiler and saying it is natukozhi and changes when some customer identifies it is not natukozhi . So probably this person earns lot by doing so again and again . Was very furious regarding this issue . sorry munveed wont...

I had the chance to visit this restaurant located in Adyar yesterday, and the experience turned out to be quite enjoyable. The ambiance of the place is simple and inviting, giving off a warm, homely feeling—true to its name, Munveedu, which translates to "ancestral home" or "first home." The setting made me feel comfortable and relaxed, like stepping into a familiar place.

When it comes to the food, it was truly the highlight of the visit. The flavors were rich, authentic, and deeply rooted in South Indian tradition. The traditional meals, in particular, stood out for their taste and quality. Every item served felt thoughtfully prepared and full of that comforting, home-cooked essence.

One thing I did notice was that the time taken to bring out the first order was slightly on the longer side. It felt a bit like waiting for a diesel engine to warm up—slow to start. However, once the initial dishes arrived, the pace completely changed. The staff picked up momentum quickly, and all the subsequent orders were served without any delay. The flow of service improved a lot after the first round, and we didn’t have to wait much for the rest of the meal.

The staff were polite, attentive, and ensured that we had everything we needed throughout. The portion sizes were generous, which added to the satisfaction. As for the pricing, I would say it's okay. It’s not exactly on the reasonable side, but it feels acceptable considering the taste, quality, and quantity offered.

Overall, if you’re in and around Adyar and looking for a place that serves authentic, homestyle South Indian food with a touch of nostalgia, this restaurant is definitely...

Nice Restaurant - With awesome ambience of ancient tamizh houses constructed using redmud walls painted nicely and two wall embedded sculptures which demonstrates the tamizh culture and serenity of their wonderful nature associated lifestyle.

Though the restaurant has its entry at the side of the building, once we enter the majestic look admires everyone.

The food menu consists of asusual soups, starters, biriyanis, pulav, roti and naans. The peculiar feature is their south indian gravies such as ayira Meen Saiva kuzhambu ( made with banana flower petals as Instead of ayira Meen) , pundu kozhambu, etc etc.

One can get a bowl of cooked rice and one gravy along with papads. A excellent combination.

Some other unique items includes vazhaipoo vada, ilaneer payasam etc etc.

Though everything is stick on the culture of tamizh but the waiters, cooking masters are north indians but it doesn't reflected in the taste of foods.

One special feature is that they follow compounding tax system in the billing so there is no requirmeng of separate tax to be paid.

Last time when i went there , i could experience a heavy non vegetarian odour in the premises. Try to control, since it gives the opinion that the restaurant is only suitable for non vegetarians.

Overall...

_Munveedu Restaurant Review (Adayar)_ Rating: 3.5/5 We visited Munveedu Restaurant at Adayar for lunch with friends, but unfortunately, the restaurant opened late at 12:30 PM, despite our 12:00 PM arrival. _Ambiance:_ The ambiance was good, with a pleasant atmosphere. _Service:_ The service was average, with room for improvement. _Food:_ The food taste was good for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. We ordered: 1. Panagam: Excellent 2. Crab Soup: Not mentioned 3. Panner Tikka: Good 4. Mutton Biryani: Average 5. Fish Finger: Okay 6. Elaneer Payasam: Expensive for the quantity served 7. Tandoori roti and Gobi masala : Good _Pros:_ 1. Good food taste 2. Pleasant ambiance _Cons:_ 1. Late opening time 2. Poor air conditioning 3. Expensive desserts (e.g., Elaneer Payasam) 4. Average service _Pricing:_ We paid ₹2,210 overall. _Overall Experience:_ Our experience at Munveedu Restaurant was mixed. While the food taste was good, the late opening time, poor air conditioning, and expensive desserts were drawbacks. We hope the restaurant will address these issues to improve the overall dining experience.

I visited Munveedu, a restaurant in Adyar, Gandhi Nagar, based on a friend's recommendation. We arrived for Sunday lunch at around 1:30 pm and found over 20 people waiting outside. Despite the crowd, we were fortunate to get a table for two fairly quickly. We ordered prawn pepper fry, butter naan, butter chicken, and 2 pieces of kola urundai. We received all the orders within 20 minutes. The ambience was pleasant, with a theme of red clay soil reflecting the restaurant's name. The prawn pepper fry initially lacked some salt, but after adding some, it was delicious, with well-cooked pepper spice. I would rate it 4 out of 5. The butter naan was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. The butter chicken masala had a good taste, and the boneless chicken pieces were plentiful. However, the kola urundai was disappointing, as it was bland in taste. The elaneer payasam was too creamy, with a dominant taste of condensed milk. Overall, our experience was positive, but the prices were a bit high, averaging around 300-400 rupees per person. The restaurant offers valet parking and has ample parking space available.

Manveedu. Honestly, I should say the experience was overwhelming. I was skeptical about the taste and also about the price of the food becausr of the location. But they stumpted us with the ambience, construction style, customer service, food quality amd pricing. From today, if anyone asks me about an economical, non veg, traditional food, I WILL recommend only Manveedu.. The walls inside the restaurant are made of mud as in a traditional village home with a specific patterned kolam. Coming to food, every item was good. Tandoori chicken, Nethli fry 😘😘, kothu parota, vazhapoo vadai... OMG! Just amazing. The best was dessert and it was "ilaneer payasam". This was one lf the best payasam in Chennai. A must try if you visit this place. Loved the customer service. The gentlemN was well over 50 years and the respect with which he treated our 4 year old child was just the best and cannot get anywhere in Chennai. Finally there is no tax as they are componding dealer. See the bill attached.
