Mani's Dum Biryani - Thoraipakkam — Restaurant in Zone 15 Sholinganallur

Mani's restaurant is located on the Thoraipakkam-Sholinganallur main road, and it's on the second floor of the building. Very limited parking area, and we can utilise the service area to park our vehicles. We went around 3 PM on a busy Saturday, but it was still crowded due to its very limited space. We were three people and tried Chilly Chicken and Mutton Biryani (Jeera samba rice). Chilly chicken was good in taste and it was spicy as expected, we thoroughly enjoyed it. They had different options to choose from the menu, we chose a large bowl (mutton biryani) for 3 persons which cost around 700+, they served a big bowl and average amount of mutton pieces with 2 eggs. As they mentioned their style as "Dum Biryani", we were expecting something different in taste, but it ended with only spicy. I am from south tamilnadu and in our area, Jeera Samba rice has a completely different taste, aroma, well cooked pieces etc. But in this restaurant it was completely different, and too spicy, almost felt the rice was like fried rice, we couldn't feel the smell of jeera samba rice. The biryani taste was awesome, maintaining the same high quality and flavor that I’ve come to expect from Mani's over the years. I visit this place regularly, and I’m never disappointed— the consistent taste and the reasonably priced menu keep me coming back.

Mani’s offers both Basmathi and Seeraga Samba rice options for their biryani, which is a great choice for customers. Personally, my favorite is the Seeraga Samba biryani—the flavor and texture are just perfect! Pairing the biryani with their curd combo is always a winning combination and enhances the meal experience.

One dish that stands out is the Achari Chicken, which goes incredibly well with the biryani. It's a must-try for anyone who loves a bit of tanginess with their meal.

"The restaurant is very small, and the wait time can be hours, so we decided to order online through Swiggy. We ordered a large portion of Chicken Biryani for 2-3 people made with seeraga samba rice. When the order arrived, we were shocked to find only rice, with no sign of chicken or eggs. We also ordered other items like kebabs and a dessert. The kebabs were disappointing and seemed like something else was substituted under the label of chicken kebab. When we complained about the Chicken Biryani, the staff were rude and insisted we send photos. After we shared the photos, they still weren’t convinced and asked for a video. Despite us providing everything they requested, they didn’t apologize.

We managed to get through lunch with what we ordered, but I’ve lost the respect I once had for Mani’s Biryani. Their food quality has declined, and the staff are now rude and impolite, even shouting at customers and refusing to accept responsibility.
