ACHAYATHIS RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Zone 9 Teynampet

Visited on April 20th sunday evening for dinner around 7:30pm. Restaurant was empty. We entered seeing the blackboard outside which listed kappa (tapioca) based dishes and which are usually popular in kerala restaurants however though mentioned in menu given and upon enquiring with waiter there were no tapioca available. With two vegetarians in our group of 4, the only other vegetarian option was aappam and kadala curry or stew for main course, ordered first for one paneer Kandhari as starter alongwith mushroom soup. Non vegetarians ordered parotta and chicken curry. The first dish to arrive was the paneer Kandhari buy instead of using birds eye chilli which is called Kandhari in Malayalam regular green chilly was seen used, why name a dish after the ingredient that is its highlight when the ingredient itself is not used/available? Upon serving 3 pcs of paneer each to all the four diners about 3 more pieces were left in the serving dish. The paneer however was not paneer at all, it was rubbery, chewy and would not break into soft pieces even if pressed with full force using the back of the fork, it just bounced back to shape after the fork released pressure that's when we realised that this was not pure dairy based paneer but the fake paneer about which multiple viral videos are available online. Such deception is unwanted and fake paneer is a carcinogenic health hazard so I called the lady at the reception and showed her how the paneer was bouncing back like rubber but instead of accepting the mistake and apologizing all she said was "it's been served so no refund would be given!". I said I never asked for refund but don't play with the health of consumers in your money minded quest of doing business. By now one more diner had come in. Since we left the starter as it is on our plate we asked for soup to be served but instead the non vegetarian main course came so we two vegetarians ordered pazhampori to fill the gap in the service. Even when Parham pori came there was no sign of the soup so we raised out voice as non vegetarians had already finished with their main course then what was the use of having soup. They immediately brought two bowls of boiling soup which no one could even have for the next 15 mins because it was literally served at 100 degrees celsius temperature by now the veg main course of Aappam and kadala curry was served so we didn't want yo wait for soup to cool down as main course would turn cold by then so we abandoned the soup and finished the main course. Finished with tender coconut pudding which was the regular stuff. Both veg and non vegetarian main course was the only saving grace. Very limited menu, lackluster ambience and indifferent staff all together make this restaurant a very passable option amidst the multitude of authentic kerala restaurants in the city. Since they had other branches shocked that such a shoddy place exists in a prime dining hub like nungambakkam. I for one will surely never return nor recommend. It was a real bitter experience we had to go through today in Achayathis restaurant at Velachery on June 23, 2024. We went in the afternoon and only after 20 mins after asking 2 ppl they gave the menu card. Again we had to remind them 2 times to bring the list of food which my family ordered and they took another 25 minutes to bring . They served beef ulirthathu which came quickly but it was dam cold just like out of the fridge. Then when we tasted it was spoilt. We informed the waiters and asked them to take it back. They didn't even have the curtesy to even apologise. After waiting for 1 hour, after my entire family had received the food which was worst in taste and we left a lot behind on the table. We just forced ourselves to eat what we ordered. We finally got the chatti choru, and we had the beef back again with the same foul smell. This time we complained to the manager where he blamed the staff and for the second time even the manager didn't even apologise. We asked them to cancel the chatti choru and they immediately took it back without a word or an apology. Finally we got the bill for Rs 1218 for nothing we had but we just ordered. Totally disappointed. None of the food tasted good. Please look into the false rating. Having food from this restaurant will just spoil the health of people. Staffs are not equipped, they don't know that they are doing. Food safety department should consider looking into the quality of food in...

I was really looking forward to having food at this place for sometime now. Visited this place today finally for lunch with 2 friends. Went there at 12pm and there were people in 3-5 tables. And we ordered food by 12.05pm.

What we ordered: Fish pothichoru Beef erachichoru Chicken kizhiporotta. Prawn tawa fry Lime juice

It was 12.30 and there was no sign of us getting food. All the people who were there before us, had left after having food. There were new people in 3-4 tables. We asked the guy about the food and he told that they'll serve it right away. Another 5mins passed, we asked another lady who seemed like a person with authority. She said the same, that the food will be served soon. At 12.40 we got pothichoru without sambar or any curries. We asked again to another person about the same and remaining items. Sambar and curries were served after 5mins. And we were so fed up with their service we decided to leave at 12.50. And right then, they served the remaining dishes. Just to note, people who arrived after us received their food before us. Even the lime juice was served to another table before us. They were really busy serving the online orders.

Really sad part is that, they didn't even ask about what happened or offer an apology. They just billed for the pothichoru and were done with it.
