I have been living in Bali for some time now, and I have tried burgers in many different places, but the one that really impressed me and made me come back again and again is the El Cartel Burger at this spot. Honestly, I didn’t expect to find such a well-prepared burger on the island, because usually in Bali you either get very local food or some international dishes that are good but not always memorable. This burger, however, really stands out.

My Urgent Complaint Regarding Food Poisoning from Lunch Today

Dear Daeng Burger Management,

I am writing to express my serious concern regarding the food my boyfriend consumed at your restaurant today. We ordered a burger, chips and a chicken panini around 1:50pm and, unfortunately, he became severely ill. We were out getting a massage starting at 4:00pm then all of a sudden he vomited all over the floor. This was the only food he consumed all day.

After eating the burger, he began to feel unwell, and within a few hours, experienced nausea resulting in vomiting and terrible diarrhoea . He is now feeling extremely sick and is bedridden, we suspect that the food we were served may have been contaminated.

This is a serious issue, and I urge you to investigate the matter promptly to ensure no one else is affected. I would appreciate a response from your team on how you plan to address this situation.

in conclusion to all of this, their response was just a weak apology and not helpful in the slightest. the funny thing which we noticed as we’re dining, they were having a food inspector interviewing their staff, i’d assume on cleanliness and food safety lmao.

I would just say don’t bother eating here if you don’t want the next 2 to 3 days waisted being bedridden vomiting and diarrhoea...

Burgers here are ok. Not the best around but far from the worst. Prices are in line with the quality and portion.

The milkshake was not very thick and you can tell it's just a very average ice cream that they use, probably Walls. The fries are crispy and delicious, no complaints.

The burgers are good but I always feel there is something left to be desired. I had the double beef double cheese burger which should have chipotle mayo and jalapeños. The burgers are smaller in diameter than I remember but thicker. They look tiny in the bun, but the result is that the whole sandwich feels like it's very narrow and the toppings aren't very obvious. If there was more happening throughout the diameter of the burger the eating experience would be greatly improved.

The worst part of the meal is the pickles. I don't get how burger places miss this integral part of being a burger place. It's clear they make their own and they are just godawful. Good pickles would elevate the burgers and especially the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, which was lacking that zing and sourness needed by the pickles to balance the flavors.
