Update: owner kindly reached out and provided service recovery and was very sweet about it. Will definitely give it another shot if ever I’m in Bali again. ❤️
Overall vibe is good, embedded deep within the villages and villas, we went to the restaurant expectant of some quality BBQ dishes. However, when the food came it was underwhelming and we didn’t really know how to make of it. Perhaps it’s the chef of the day?
We ordered the roasted lemon chicken which was slightly cremated (see picture). We tried to look on the bright side and dug in, turns out the inside was not fully cooked either. Also, there was a side of baby corn soaked in burnt grease. Not sure how one can mess up baby corn? But perhaps it’s the chef’s intent? But for me; a sign of an inexperienced cook.
We also ordered the rainbow veggies, which felt like it was put together haphazardly. Personally, the idea was great? Just that there was no distinct flavour. Everything on the dish was conflicting in taste. Try it maybe? And you’ll get what I mean - at the end I was not sure if I was eating veggies or some veggie based veggie looking vegetables. 😳
Lastly, we also ordered the roasted bell peppers (sadly I didn’t have picture) but when it came it looked like the grease bin from the chef where he chucked all the burnt food in. Once again, order and see what I mean. It looked like he needed to rid some burnt vegetables and had mistaken our dish for it. Sad.
Okay, positive part. I think the waiters and waitresses are good. I can’t judge their disposition because I’m not local and I shall not read too much into it. But overall vibe is that they were attentive and helpful.
So yeah, food wise; hard to believe it is a 5 stars; hard to believe for me. But this is just me. Maybe the other three hundred over people had better luck than myself; or perhaps have a keen taste for charcoal.
Caveat emptor, that’s all I’m...
