We had a 1-star dinner experience and I feel very bad for giving such a low review.
But from start to finish - everything went wrong.
It's a seaside restaurant but they didn't have anything against mosquitos. They had 4-5 service staff and 2-3 tables to serve. Yet we had to wait and scream for their attention. We were asked to scan a QR code to view the digital menu. Yet when taking our orders we were told that the menu is outdated. My wife loves ceviche which is one of the reasons why I chose this place. However only after 5 min the server came back to tell us it's sold out. In any other decent restaurant, kitchen would inform service about unavailable items on the menu. I ordered my drink to be less sweet. The waiter assured me not to worry as sugar syrup will be served by the side. My drink came without sugar at all. We ordered oysters, an appetizer and 2 mains. I was surprised when my main pasta dish came out first. I told them that I would like to have oysters first, followed by appetizer and then mains. They took my pasta back to the kitchen and served the oysters. Our oysters came with the usual mignonette but without a small spoon. How are we supposed to eat that? Dip the oyster into the sauce? Once we were done with the oysters, they brought the 2 mains. Was I talking Chinese? Is it so difficult to understand "I want appetizer before main"? Appetizer came but was really underwhelming. Supposedly a tuna tartar but all I could find was veggies. If profit is an issue then increase your price and put in more protein. But don't call it a tuna tartar when it's not Finally time for the mains. My pasta was super soggy and probably just kept warm from 20 min before. Seriously? My wife's grilled cuttlefish was half raw. I hope she doesn't catch food poisoning. We had enough..
I know everyone had good intentions but in the end it was a desaster. Thanks for taking off some items of the bill at last..
All the best for...
Read moreWe were having a great time at this restaurant until we encountered an issue with our order of half a dozen oysters.
My girlfriend initially ordered the local oysters, which were unavailable, and the waiter suggested an alternative. The oysters were listed as “85 each” on the menu. Given the pricing structure, comparative pricing of other local oysters and numerical logic of the menu, we assumed this meant 8,500 Rp (~85 cents AUD) per oyster. However, when we received the bill, we were shocked to find that each oyster actually cost 85,000 Rp, nearly ten times what we expected. The waiter never highlighted this significant price difference, though we understand that his English was limited (and we don’t hold this against him).
The situation became frustrating when we brought this to the attention of a female waiter. Instead of addressing our concerns professionally, she was quite arrogant and abrasive. She first tried to pit us against our original waiter by calling him over in a ‘he said she said’ manner - which was highly unprofessional. When I requested a menu to clarify the confusion, she handled it dismissively, flicking through the pages herself rather than letting me see it like I was some type of moron.
The main issue was the confusion around the currency denominations on the menu, which was unclear and inconsistent. Additionally, the original waiter struggled to communicate the price difference effectively. To make matters worse, the menu was grubby and faded, with the section explaining the charges hidden under a clipboard.
We would have simply provided feedback for the future, but the rude attitude of the female waiter made the experience frustrating and disappointing. Unfortunately, this experience has deterred us from returning to what could have been a...
Read moreWe came here as it was a recommended search and close to our resort. We ordered the pacific oysters in Kilpatrick style which were unbelievable, so rich and creamy. We then had the Hawaiian Tuna which was also fresh and light. I ordered the Shoyu pasta as my main which has to be the most incredible pasta dish I’ve ever eaten. I’d consider myself a foodie and I’ve travelled around Italy (the pasta capital of the world) and no dish could ever compare to this Shoyu pasta, the umami flavours paired with the fresh tuna it was delectable. My partner ordered the Octopus and unfortunately it was quite chewy, which we understood as octopus is a temperamental meat to cook well. The waitress when checking on us apologised for the issue and offered to have a new one remade or to order something else but we were quite full so we declined her kind offers. She ended up taking the octopus off our bill as we couldn’t eat it and that was very generous. We loved this place so much we came back a few days later and were served by Komang who was incredibly knowledgeable and showed great service. We ordered the incredible Kirlpatrick oysters and Shoyu pasta again as there was no way we could leave this beautiful island without eating those dishes again. I highly recommend this place and I would come back to Bali just to...
