Ricky D's Canteen — Restaurant in Bali

We stopped by Ricky D for lunch and were impressed by the quality of the food and the friendly service. The ambience is casual and laid-back, with a crisp, clean interior that feels fresh and inviting.

There are a number of spots to sit and dine in, but it was incredibly busy when we arrived. We managed to get a seat, though options were limited — we ended up sharing a bench initially. Thankfully, a table opened up a little later, and we were able to grab an extra chair from them to get a bit more comfortable.

The staff were super friendly and accommodating throughout. We ordered a couple of drinks, the chicken schnitzel sandwich to share, and a side of fries. Everything came out quickly and freshly made. The chicken schnitzel was juicy and tender, with great flavor and texture. The sandwich itself was well-balanced and satisfying. The fries were another highlight — perfectly crunchy, nicely salted, and served with a choice of sauces. We went with the classic tomato sauce, which hit the spot.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend Ricky D if you’re looking for a solid meal in a relaxed setting. It might be worth coming during a quieter time or grabbing takeaway if the place is packed — but either way, the food is...

Really disappointed…

I had this place saved for a long time. First of all, I think there is not a lot of interesting choices when it comes to the sandwiches

I ordered the Reuben. I’ve tried quite a lot of pastrami sandwiches but this was not it… there was too much sauce, I’m fine with getting my hands dirty but the flavour didn’t add anything to the sandwich. Then the pastrami doesn’t look artisanal or good quality cured meat but more of the industrial type cut into stripes. The cheese didn’t have any flavour and the worst thing was the sauerkraut. Instead of the sour vinegary flavour it normally has, it was straight up boiled cabbagge and even the smell before giving a bite was too much to handle. The flavour of the sandwich was not good at all.

The spirulina milshake was banana, pinapple and coconut cream but it had more of an industrial vanilla taste than tropical fruits.

Then my bf’s wrap was too basic kind of like a Mcdonalds recipe but it was ok.

I have to say that the staff was so nice nothing to say to them.

I had the Fresh Salad Sandwich and was really disappointed. The menu mentioned sourdough, but what I got was more like dry wholemeal or rye—not the soft, fresh, chewy sourdough I was expecting. The bread was stale and bland, making every bite underwhelming.

Visually, the sandwich looked great, and the salad ingredients were fresh, but there was no flavor. It desperately needed some kind of dressing, seasoning, or salt and pepper to bring it to life.

For a place charging 75K IDR for a sandwich, I expected much better. Wouldn’t return for the sandwiches unless they improved the flavor and...
