Mango Habanero is my go-to wing flavor, but usually, one of those two flavors will dominate the other. Meaning that if the mango flavor is really distinct, it won't be very spicy, OR it'll be really spicy, but you can't really pick out the mango flavor.
But these wings really do the job of balancing both flavors perfectly. The mango is prominent, but with a really serious burn behind it. And that's hard to do.
I also had the buffalo flavor, which was just as tasty.
I had the chance to talk to the owner for a while about the challenge of making a menu that appeals to both locals and tourists. He said it's especially hard to set spice levels, since locals generally want things a lot hotter than the tourists do.
But I think he's done a great job, and this is a place in be eager to return to one day to try the rest of his flavors.
I got 32 wings (I saved most for later), an order of fries*, and two cokes. Total cost: $20 USD / 300k IDR
*I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT BE FRIES. They were super, super good. The seasoning was amazing. I could go back just for that. But I didn't take a picture cuz... it's just fries. But I should have, they...
Read moreAs a native New Yorker who grew up an hour from Buffalo NY (Where buffalo wings come from.) I can honestly say that these wings are nowhere close to NY style chicken wings. NY style wings don't have breading on them, and are typically more savory than sweet. The mango habenero wings taste like Panda Express Chinese orange chicken, the Buffalo wings taste like sambal terasi that has an extra touch of lemon, and the parmeson garlic wings are way to cheesy with absolutely no garlic flavor at all. I understand they probably need to change the flavors to attract more local tastes. But advertising these wings as New York style wings is like saying the Indonesian food in Montreal Canada is as good as here in Bali.
For those looking for authentic NY style wings to try Wings to Go instead. Or bake them in your oven at home, and use Frank's Red Hot as your sauce. (You can get it at any Grand Lucky...
Read moreWings Canggu is hands down the best spot for wings in town! The wings are perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. The mango habanero sauce is my absolute favorite, just the right mix of sweet and spicy with a nice kick!
And let’s talk about the double-coated French fries, they are next-level! Super crispy, perfectly seasoned, and addictive. They pair so well with the wings and make the meal even better.
The vibe is great, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the portions are generous for the price. If you love wings and good comfort food, this place is a must-visit in Canggu....
