In the 30-something I've been alive on this planet Earth, this is by far THE BEST RESTAURANT I EVER BEEN TO, and I've been to soooo many around the world, including my home in London (and other parts of the UK), Paris, Germany, Spain, New York City, Toronto, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Saigon, Hanoi and even Jakarta!!
I admit when I was first dropped off by the taxi, I had difficulty locating this, as it said on the maps I was using where it was, right next door was another business which I almost accidentally walked into, thinking that was this, and then Mom's Artisan Bakery on the other side, it was only by luck that I found this because of the small sign on the left. There isn't much indication that this was the actual Hummingbird premise from the outside, infact if anything it looked more like someone's huge home. So I went in, was greeted by two (exceptionally beautiful) ladies, that asked if I had a booking, I told them no, I just turned up with an empty stomach. She escorted me to a table, I was amazed by the interior design, was something that'd be extreme luxury restaurants (which are out of my depth in western countries, especially London). I was advised to download the menu by scanning the QR code, which is very good for the environment, as we shouldn't have to rely on paper/cardboard physical menus anymore. I ordered the Soto Tangkar Iga Sapi, which was 215k Indonesia rp. When it came, tasted exceptionally good, when I picked up the beef rib by the bone, the meat just slid off (I was looking forward to slicing the meat 😢), it was tenderised and succulent, cooked to perfection. It tasted incredibly good, as did the sauce. After I finished eating, I decided to tour the restaurant, as it's like 4 floors high, the scale of this place is incredible, and it has its own car park in the basement! I'm definately coming back here again. The first thing I did as soon as I arrived in Bandung (from Jakarta) was come straight here, so this was my first impression of the city, and it's been an exceptionally good one. If you're new to Bandung, do yourself a favour and make sure you visit this place like as though it's a tourist attraction, the management obviously went through so much for this place, and we owe...

Read moreThis is my first time at this place. Found it on google, good review, plus it is near the hotel where we stay. The building is quite new, design quite modern, etc. The service was ok, but I understand, it’s Sunday! ;) It took a bit longer than usual until your drink and food coming. There was many waiters/waitresses, and they seemed to be confused, struggling which table the food supposed to be served.. I don’t blame them, the management need to communicate better with them. The food on the menu looks yummy, but was not worth the hype. We both ordered: 3 drinks(espresso, beer, and ice lychee tea) which for me it was simple, but it took longer lol, and again, hey it’s Sunday tho! and 4 dishes: chicken quesadillas: the meat a bit dry, not as we expected 😆 but it’s okay, at least the condiments/sauce/side was fresh, that helps, a bit. szechuan chicken popcorn: it came super late, and it was just chicken popcorn with garlic and salt, I didn’t see or taste any of Szechuanpepper. Lol so it needs to be improve! philycheese sandwich: it was good, but sourdough bread was not sourdough bread as we expected imo, it is more like kindof ciabatta than sourdough bread. Or cmiiw 😅 dori aglio e olio: this one also took super long, yeah it’s Sunday! 🥹 well, the fish was crispy, but the pasta. As this aglio e olio super simple and the main ingredients are garlic, olive oil and a bit chilli, I did not taste the olive oil and garlic. And why champignons in it? Lol I would rather put nothing than the main ingredients in it. Plus instead of coriander, put basil as garnish 😉. Need to be improved!
