Hi, before writing the rest of my complain, I want you to know that the food tasted great. Still one of my fav place to go get a sandwich.
However, what happened this morning disappointed me and my bf.
Short story, we made an order and paid 2 sandwiches + drink and snack, and waited for about 15-20 mins. Because people who queued in front of me and behind me already disappeared, I asked about my order to the staff.
Not long after, one guy told me "permisi, pesanannya ini greek yoghurt nya belum dibayar" and we're like what? (They said I haven't paid for my greek yogurt, which is an additional dressing to my bf's sandwich).
Firstly, the one who checked what we order is the cashier. We thought that it was already paid (included in "Smoked salmon sandwiches" because it is usually like that). We didn't know that extra greek yogurt supposed to be on our bill.
Secondly, of course we will pay it. But the staffs attitude towards us indicated that it was our fault. It wasn't. It was the cashier.
Thirdly, we didn't bring any cash. The extra greek yogurt for the sandwich cost 15k and we couldn't use debit card. One of them suggested to transfer the money. But my bf didn't want to pay extra 6.500 of admin fee to get that greek yogurt, not to mention it was the cashier's fault.
Finally we cancelled the greek yogurt to make things easier.
BUT WE NEVER GET ANY APOLOGIZE FROM THE CASHIER OR OTHER STAFF. That made us outrageous. Whenever we go there, this never happened. Just this morning. But still made us mad and the rest of their good service in the past several years we've been there just disappear in our eyes. Because of that cashier.
Not long after that, we received our sandwiches. After waiting for about 20 mins long. The sandwiches were great. But after this incident, I might going to reduce the frequency of my visits. Not as usual.
I hope the management will re-evaluate their staff to be more careful and please just apologize if you make any mistake. If you did to us back then, I might not writing this bad review...
Read moreComing back to Jkt frm Bandung bringing oleh² Kxxtika Sxri and Prxxa Raxx is like a routine to most. However, there's new thing in the bucket worth adding. Tired of the sweet cakes which i used to do a decade ago, for past few years my routine hs switched to buying Mom's bakery. I enjoyed the bread selection even while staying in Bandung for a few days.
Cranberry cream cheese bread: Am not particularly fond of cream cheese. However, the combination smhow matched v well that i dont mind eating the cream cheese. The cranberry is very generous
Whole sourdough collection - Kale-cheese, cranberry-walnut, black sesame,... i love them all. The bread is moist, not dry, and the outer skin layer is crispy. I bought whole bc i prefer large slices and preserve the moist of d inner dough when frozen.
👍 to Christmas special edition - the Stollen bread w strong rhum. Not too sweet yet the coolness of d outer less sweet sugar powder complement the rhum and the bread. This lingers in d mouth and imprints into memory. The feeling of festive plays in the air.
The savoury cheddar biscuit is perfect with afternoon tea, be it hot earl grey, oolong or sencha. Hot chai tea suits as well given Bandung rainy season atm.
Panatone comes w crispy on the outer layer yet moist inside. The candied orange peel boost up the festive mood.
So... I wld say coming back frm Bandung is not complete without buying oleh² from Mom's Bakery for own family and relatives & friends. (Dont forget to keep the bread in fridge or freezer to retain the freshness. Be mindful that the pre-made sandswiches are for immediate consumption, not to be brought back to Jkt).
Btw. Mom's bakery hs just opened a restaurant Green and Beans. Those with health conscious will enjoy the...
Read moreHands down my most favorite go-to place for breakfast in Bandung. Mom's bakery should be everyone's healthy & comfort bakery/sandwich shop for their incredible variety of options without neglecting health & dietary restrictions.
Every time I got the chance to have a breakfast in Bandung, I have never missed out to skip Mom's Bakery for their Sourdough Sandwich. I always order either Roasted Chicken or Beef sandwich with multi-grain sourdough bread with Roasted Sesame Mayo & Caesar Dressing (yes you can pick 2 dressings).
Their sandwiches are all made-to-order and highly customizable especially when it comes to the toppings. You'll need to fill out a form to order depending on your requests for any kind of sandwiches & beverages. Although it can fit you perfectly, their waiting time can be a hassle. At their peak times (I'd say between 8-10 am) you can wait up to 1.5 hours for your sandwich to arrive. The solution? Come as early as 7am. Additionally, their coffee compliments the sandwich very well.
The bakery section is filled with a handful of choices from the more familiar breads, to the healthy options. Quiche, sourdough crackers, and Chocolate Bapka are my favorites to name a few.
Regarding the ambiance, Mom's Bakery is located adjacent to the famous Riau Street in Bandung (in Jalan Progo). Although it might not look special from the outside (as it looks more like a home, commercialized) the ambiance inside feels cozy and has a decent seating. The staffs are all very attentive to customers and extremely helpful in explaining the terms to unfamiliar customers.
It has always been a delightful experience for me to visit Mom's Bakery and for many more...
