Had a really nice dinner at Tate on our last day in Sanur.
Highlights :
Steak & duck with old school guéridon sevice.
Steak au poivre , delicious. Tender filets and the sauce was on point ; pepper not overpowering other flavours. Pro tip : get it with the cream added. The steak was melt in your mouth and the green beans accompanying it were crispy with a nice kick of garlic. Fries could be improved.
Duck a’lorange , this was brilliant. Duck breast cooked perfectly , pink in the centre. The sauce had a perfect blend of sweet and tangy. Could rival many European restaurants. Wiped the plate clean!
The not so great :
Crab ravioli, it was just bad. 😞
It was supposed to come with bisque but instead they served it with a tasteless broth. A bisque should be thick and creamy. I didn’t get a picture but even the presentation was sad. Used the sauce from the steak and some lime to made it edible. We were starving having not eaten since 8am so we still ate it.
The other downside is the portions aren’t the most generous. Stingy with the sides as well, fries with the steak were barely enough for a small child.
I do also feel the ravioli should have been taken off the bill, but no biggie.
One more thing to mention, the kitchen is a bit slow in getting orders out. Was there early, 6.30pm and there was a total of 6 guests in the restaurant (including us) , the order still took around 35-40 minutes to be served. They are most likely under staffed.
Overall though , recommended , just don’t order the...

When making your own brunch the portions are literally mini. Roasted sweet potatoes means 2 pieces (slices) and made too dry… shrimp means 4-5 small shrimps - all in all, the portions are way too small to get full.
Furthermore, it took really long time for the food to be prepared, at least 35-45 minutes, which is way too long for a croissant with 2 eggs and hollandaise sauce…
After looking at the waitress several times, no apology nor further comments were made about the food that still hadn’t come. This was awful in the morning when you...

A wooden furniture mixed with a selected relaxing music, surrounded with a large panel of fine wine, TATE is offering a journey into a Bistronomic French food. The Brunch is an invitation to open your palate with a two to three set courses menu. A well chosen combination and an authentic discovery surprisingly tasty and balanced. The Quenelle is a must try but not only! Sincere thank you to Miss Ayu and Miss Daisy for their gentle approach and service. Do not hesitate to pick a bite of cheese or ham...or a cheese platter. The Balinese vanilla and tea are absolutely to buy!...
