Ulu Thai Sanur — Restaurant in Denpasar Selatan

There was once a time that Sanur was known for being a mature, family friendly destination but unfortunately, that is no longer the case as sadly Kuta venues like this attract the worst of tourists and operate without consideration of their neighbors and the community. The food here is mediocre at best, certainly NOT Thai food but the venue does their best to make up for that by playing their music at TOP volume disturbing those dining next at Kuu or staying at the lovely Maya resort next door.

Unfortunately, Ulu Thai ruined our stay in Sanur playing loud music that permeated our Maya resort Suite as well as made it impossible to enjoy our meal at main restaurant. Despite the Sanur Banjar (village leaders) being only a few hundred meters away, Ulu continues to operate without consideration of those they affect. A very UNBali...

This place is a joke!

My wife and I attempted to eat sushi there 4 times and all 4 times attempted to order sushi during lunch and dinner and were told ....."sorry, no sushi today"! It clearly states on there menu they serve fresh sushi starting at 11:00.

On the last attempt I stopped and asked the host if it was available today and he replied, "of coarse". He acted as if I was stupid for asking. He escorted us inside and sat us down and when we ordered 3 different types they said, " so sorry, no sushi today"!

Why would you advertise on your website, your exterior sign, your paid advertisements & menu that you are a sushi restaurant and not have the product?

That's like advertising your an airline carrier but don't have planes. It's like you advertise you sell ice cream cones but don't have ice cream? Hamburgers...

If it wasn't for the atmosphere, it would be a lower rating. Four of us all of the same opinion that the price point doesn't match the quality of the quiesene provided. Shared four dishes and all below expectations. Meat tough, lacking flavour. Ate at several Thai establishments in Bali duing our stay, and this was on par with the least satisfying. Dishes ranged from $100k - $140k, and food within this range should present a reasonable standard. Some reviews stating best Thai in Bali, this is an absolute over statement, and they obviously either don't eat much Thai or haven't been to other Thai places in Bali.
