At Hikaru Dining, we tried the Ebi Furai Curry Don, Karaage Don, and Teka Maki (tuna sushi). The dishes offered reasonable value for money, though I have encountered more flavourful options at similar price points elsewhere.

The Ebi Furai Curry Don was a highlight, featuring crispy fried shrimp that retained a satisfying crunch. The portion size was generous, but the curry itself lacked the depth and richness one might expect, rendering it decently remarkable. The Karaage Don, a classic combination of fried chicken, egg, and rice, was enjoyable with its adequate portioning. However, the chicken fell short in crispness and the overall flavour profile was rather one-dimensional, leaning towards salty but lacking in umami. The Teka Maki, while undeniably fresh, offered a straightforward savoury taste, with little complexity to elevate the dish beyond its simplicity. The dishes were something that one wouldn't nitpick too much unless you're a snob and they were all within expectations.

On the whole, the rice bowls were passable, providing decent quality for the price, and the extensive variety on the menu adds to the appeal. However, I suspect the ramen may be the true standout at this establishment, even though I have yet to try it. Hikaru Dining is a commendable choice for casual dining, whether solo or with friends, particularly if you appreciate a diverse selection of Japanese dishes.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was truly remarkable, offering an authentic Japanese dining experience. The interior was adorned with tasteful Japanese-inspired decorations, creating a calming and inviting ambience that was perfectly suited for dining, casual conversations, or even working. The tranquillity of the space, coupled with its comfortable seating, added to the overall charm.

The service was equally impressive—efficient and attentive, with dishes promptly served to the table. The restaurant was pleasantly uncrowded during my visit, which further enhanced the relaxed dining experience. Situated conveniently near major campuses in Yogyakarta, this establishment feels like a hidden gem, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the...

Enak.

Tapi ya rada mahal. Tapi enak. Jadi gimana?

Kenyang. Kalo makan sushi, sesuap, sesuap, nggak kerasa kenyang. Tahu-tahu pesan tiga platter, tiga macam maki/nigiri/sashimi yang akhirnya, kalorinya, sebenarnya sama aja dengan dua tiga piring sekali makan. Bukan masalah perutnya muat apa enggak, tapi masalahnya, dompetnya: kuat bayar apa enggak.

Unagi don, harga 125.000, enak banget.

Saking sibuk makan, nggak sempat motret. Jadi nggak ada gambar. Nggak nyobain dessert juga soalnya udah keburu kenyang kebanyakan nyobain appetizernya.

Mahal, sih, tapi...

I odered beef yakiniku ramen in shoyu broth. The broth is actually 5 star quality, very rich in taste, but unfortunately, other elements are below my expectation: noodles are too soft, beef slices were not much and not tender, the nitamago was overcooked and the other toppings (wood ear mushroom and seaweed) were just too small in portion. It wasnt at all like in the menu book. The price for the quality that I got was overpriced: I paid 63k (incl tax)for this bowl of ramen. The AC didnt work well when I was there, so the place was rather hot. There were not any condiments provided on the table (quite odd for a restaurant level). I shouldnt have set my expectation too high really, but considering that the price is 'premium', my experience here was (very) dissapointing.
