Vegans and vegetarians! We stopped by once a couple of weeks ago to try their vegan fare. The crispy eggplant was excellent. Super crispy and fresh, definitely one of my favorite ways to have eggplant.
We then ordered bowls of tofu, Tempe, eggplant, water spinach, and rice. The eggplant was, again, great, but the tofu and tempeh tasted soooo fishy. I smelled the bowl and think maybe it was just a well-seasoned bowl, or perhaps the sambal had fish paste in it, or maybe the tofu and tempeh was just cooked on the same surface/in the same oil as the seafood, but the taste was enough that we couldnât return to eat there again.
I would definitely return if the fishy taste wasnât there anymore, or just for the eggplant. And I encourage those who are looking to eat vegan food but arenât vegan to try it. But if you donât like the smell or taste of fish, Iâd avoid that dish anyway.
