Café Melinjo - French Flavor — Restaurant in East Nusa Tenggara

This little café is an absolute gem. The pastries and cakes are superb - seriously the best croissants you will find anywhere in Indonesia. They also make delicious smoothie bowls, gorgeous pancakes, authentic French classics like "croque monsier" and my personal favourite is the falafel, tabouleh and couscous salad.

Everything is made and served with exceptional thought and care, from the latte art on the top of your coffee to the exquisite choice of whimsical plates and lovely little gold cake forks. The owners are both French and have clearly poured their hearts and souls into the place. If you are in Labuan Bajo for a few days they can even easily accommodate pastry orders and requests, even making us some bespoke British apple turnovers and several birthday cakes for family members.

To top it all the owners and staff even put up with our three bouncing children making regular use of the café and always made us feel welcome. Do not visit Bajo without putting this place top...

Came here with my boyfriend for a late brunch and honestly I’m conflicted. Pain au chocolat was AMAZING, dare i say even one of the best I’ve had in my life, but their croque madame was underwhelming. Bread wasn’t toasted enough so it became soggy from the bechamel. The bechamel was also weirdly tasteless and the texture was off—the closest description i can think of is like an over whipped egg white whereas bechamel are typically smooth? I ordered their coconut coffee and it also tasted weirdly acidic, I’m not sure if its from the beans or the coconut milk.

I ordered another coffee, a mocha this time, and it was good tho i’d much prefer if it’s unsweetened. My boyfriend ordered bacon and egg pancake and latte. The pancake was super soft, we liked it. Absolutely amazing for the whole family!!! Fresh and tasty food, awesome birthday surprise, incredible staff!!!!

We had a breakfast there and preordered a birthday fruit salad cake for my mother's birthday. The staff was really friendly and took care of every extra wish, reservation and the preordered fruit cake were working and right on time!

The food was amazing, freshly prepared and every extra wish was fulfilled perfectly. Another sign of freshness! The fresh juices were so good and refreshing, we ordered fruit salad, croissant, omelett, yoghurt and a bread with avocado. Everything was super good. The coffee tasted wonderful as well. Original, smooth, real... can recommend EVERYTHING!

The location is nice as well. It's right at the harbour with a nice view, located in a new open shopping mal which seems to be built new.
