Labuan Bajo fish market — Restaurant in Flores

Great sunsets but eating experience was not so good. Prices r hiked for tourists though wud be cheaper depending on where u r from. Most stalls wud quote similar pricing. 1st dinner, we had two fish but one was totally tough - loco! Paid abt 1.3 mil for dinner of 11 pax. Coconut was overpriced - 30k IDR 2nd dinner at a diff stall (warung) fish was ok. XXL crabs were not that fleshy even though we paid a premium price for them ( 300k/kg). We paid 1.8m for a dinner for 7pax. Svs was nothing to shout about. Both places charged 10% tax, which we refused to pay at d second warung. They accepted it when we challenged d invoice, hand-written on a blank paper. I think this is a tourist scam as they were just operating out of warungs (stall) n don't pay...

Amazing experience, the food is really good. We paid 170k for 2 medium-sized fish after a bit of bargaining. Make sure to ask the vendors what is fresh, some fish are only there for decoration (hopefully). It helps if you know how to tell if a fish is fresh, but the vendors generally don’t want to poison you. The tables are right next to the grills and the smell of burning fish fat is hard to get rid of, so be wary that everything you wear will smell like fish. So the experience is supposed to be that you choose what item that you would like to have. Grilled and they cook it to order. We chose a snapper and some shrimp to be grilled with sides of rice and the fried eggplant. Everything was absolutely overcooked and the beer was warm. The lobster was the same price that it was in the United States and had I had paid that much for a lobster I would have been very upset. Had it been that overcooked everybody there was very friendly but the entire dining patio was absolutely filled with smoke. The view was amazing overlooking the harbor but I wouldn't go back....
