Bebek Kaleyo Menteng — Restaurant in Jakarta

Kaleyo is a leading duck restaurant in Jakarta, as I know. They offer range food with a good standard for all their store. The Menteng branch is in front of the infamous President Obama's elementary school in the heart of Jakarta in the Menteng area. They provided a spacious parking area, indoor and outdoor seating, and a greeneries view. It would be best to try their infamous fried duck or fried chicken, whether sambal ijo or kremes style. The side dishes were a lot of choices; tempeh, tofu, sauteed papaya leaves, fresh vegetables, fried petai, sayur asem, etc. One thing for sure, they need to improve their service, especially during lunch or dinner. We had to wait for plain hot tea or ice tea almost 30 minutes after finishing the main dish. It was so spicy at first until the taste became neutral again during that period. First time here, although I'd been in other outlets, namely Tebet, BSD, Bintaro. Must say although the duck taste great, but the portion is smaller. At least smaller compared to same order in other outlet. Maybe this outlet just got a batch of skinny duck.

Table service is great, but very slow response, even when the place is only 40% occupied.

The soursop juice I ordered, arrived too watered down. As if it is made of sachet powdered flavored drink. Very little piece of the fruit. Disappointed, when compared to other outlet.

In summary, still great taste for the duck, just the portion is smaller than usual. The soursop juice is bad. Other dishes are OK as expected.

Management really have to look this up. I know this is not...

Surprisingly very good dishes with deep fried duck as speciality. Our group enjoyed the duck, sayur asem, lodeh and tumis daun pepaya. The sambal is VERY spicy/hot for me, but lots of people like them. The place is nice but the noise of children is quite terrible.
