Menteng Park — Attraction in Jakarta

Serene stop amidst Jakarta's hustle and bustle 🌿

Taman Menteng is an all-in-one park in Menteng, Central Jakarta, ranging from playground, sports, foods, greenery, and a mosque.

Praticularly known for its pretty-looking and varied sporting space, Taman Menteng has a total of 4 courts for volleyball, futsal, basketball, etc. It is very rare for the courts to not be occupied, especially in the afternoon, as people will come by and do sports together. Normally, the games are free-to-join, so we can always ask and quickly hop on a game! Also, there's a gym area available. It's mainly for calisthenics, but there are also weights and resistance bands to be used freely. Same as the courts, we will find friendly gymbros exercising here every now and then.

For the foods, the stalls are located near the parking building. Not many options are available here, and by 4pm, most of them are already closed. Fortunately, drinks are still open even after dark so you won't have to be worried searching for anywhere else.

If you want to stop by, there is a parking area available. You would have to access it through Jalan HOS. Cokroaminoto as the only entrance. Motorcycles are charged with Rp2.000/hour, and Rp5.000/hour for cars. If you dont feel like doing so, there are also illegal parking spaces on the north and south side. Bikes can always enter and explore anywhere.

We had a photo session here long before 'kids jaman now' realize this place's potential. I remember, the new look of Taman Menteng was an outcome of a design competition with the glass houses as main attractions. And until now, people keep taking pictures here, from a fun personal one to pre-wedding or ads (commercials). It's the glass house that surely is the main and favorite background. Glasses and Frangipani trees bring modern ambiances and natural tropical looks as well. . I remember, this place was an outcome of a design competition. Controversies aroused during the construction as this place was used to be a historical football stadium to be demolished. That's why you can find a sillhoutte of a football player in a lawn of the park. It's to remind people about the history. . Anyway, people now are happy with the existing Taman Menteng. They can do some sports: futsal, basketball, mini soccer, skateboard, jogging, etc. Some can also just stroll around the park, play with dancing fountain, or sit on the bench to enjoy the cozy evening. Taman Menteng, a park in the center of Central Jakarta. Located in Menteng area, one of some elites people area live in. In this park you can bring your family. There are 2 part area inside. One is playing court yard like football, basketball or badminton. The other is more convenient as chit chat as couple in love, fotographic scene like pre-wedding, or just sitting there and see others doing their activity. The trees are from various kind of species. But not too branches. Not enough to cover you from the sun ray if you come in the noon. The best time to come is in the morning before 11.00 AM or after 15.00 PM. If in the rainy seasons, my suggestion is not to come to this park because there is not enough shelter from the rain. The unique one is there are building cover from glasses and like a pyramid. These building can be rent as a gathering occasions. And one annoying thing is there are some coffee/drink seller with bicycle but I don't know if they are allowed to sell inside the park or not.
