Beer Garden SCBD Central Jakarta January 2019
Pork sausages for 90 K IDR++.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that they actually serve pork here, so i just had to try it out. Luckily enough, it was actually quite good.
The sausages were quite big, there was some good searing on them, the fries were quite plentiful, the salad was small but really good, and the barbecue sauce was surprisingly much better than most with its added pepperiness.
That being said, as usual, this cantankerous old man will have to say that they should have seared the sausages better. The bockwurst was also clearly superior to the bratwurst because it is better seasoned and the graininess and overall sausage texture is much better than the bland and over-blended bratwurst. They could also have made better fries, but i guess it is a fast food serving situation and - compared to most others - they did do those packaged fries quite well.
Which then compels me to say that their salad had no business being as good as it was. Most purveyors in Jakarta, even the more expensive ones, too often do not care about their side salad quality, but this one was just crisp and perfectly dressed - not like most cheap ones who just glop a whole bottle of god knows what on their side salad. And that bbq sauce liek omg, others just use cheap bottled sauces, but this one seemed to add quite a bit more pepper and i think there were also hints of caramelized onions. I seriously do not like bbq sauces, i tend to find them too sweet, but this one was just good.
So yeah, not really my kind of space, but i guess lots of people like to hang out here and i must say that it is quite spacious - albeit prone to being too crowded and noisy. That being said, if you're ever around for a beer or two with friends etc, I'd have to say that i found paying the 90++ for the food was more acceptable for me than the 46++ for thr 330ml Bintang (so go for the 52++ Guiness...
Read moreI’ve visited the new Beer Garden three times now, and to be honest, I preferred the previous concept over the current one. The only thing that hasn’t changed is the pizza—outstanding as always!
I usually order beer, but on my second and third visits, I decided to try the cocktail menu. Unfortunately, the Negroni was a major disappointment. The Whiskey Sour was decent, but the Negroni completely missed the mark. I even spoke to the waiter to confirm if it was really a Negroni, and after the bartender’s attempt to fix it, the result was still underwhelming. I ended up not finishing my drink and ordering another Whiskey Sour instead.
During my second visit, the live music was also a letdown. Perhaps it would be worth considering a different band to enhance the atmosphere.
I really hope you can improve the Negroni—your sister bar, Bar Miglia, serves one of the best I’ve had. Given that both are part of Biko Group, I believe the quality should be consistent across the board.
Hopefully, this feedback can be taken constructively to enhance the overall experience. Looking forward to seeing improvements on...
Read moreA good place to chill after a busy work. It was quite hard to find the place after disembarking from our online taxi that dropped us near the signage. No proper direction that made it easier to find. But after a doubtful walking to the right direction, passing some dark buildings and parking area, we heard the live music from the bar that led us to the front door. It was quite interesting and we were so impressed by the experience in finding the place. I was happy thou!
There are quite many choices, from local to international brands, alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks. Also various of meals or snacks. I was hoping to have “Becks” beer from England but no stock. The price is not that expensive. Still affordable.
Love the nice ambience but it is too dark i guess. The good thing is that they have a regular live music performance with...
