We dined at Bistecca on a Saturday evening and were very impressed by the entire experience. The restaurant has a great ambience. It is dark and cozy, and the tables are sufficiently far apart from each other. The maître d’ greeted us and checked our reservation and then took us to a table for four. Our first waiter had a bit difficulty in understanding our questions (we spoke Bahasa and English) but very smoothly he swapped with a different waiter and then there were no issues. We found that quite professional and smart. We tried about seven different cocktails before dinner. Some of the cocktails were not available due to some of the alcohol missing. That wasn’t a big challenge for us though, as there were many options. The quality of the cocktails was excellent. The bartenders at this place really know what they are doing, and the cocktails here are markedly better than the average at high-end bars like this one. Some were a bit pricey but well worth the price in our opinion. The wine menu is good but some of the wines are very overpriced. If you travel through Asia you probably know this is quite common, and especially for European wines. The Italian wine selection at Bistecca is pretty good, but the prices (also due to taxes in Indonesia by the way) are too high for the vintages and wines offered. We opted for an Australian Cabernet, and it was okay, but nothing special. It was the second most expensive wine amongst the Australian wines. The sommelier was helpful but went too quickly for the most expensive suggestions in our opinion, and also without asking much about what we had ordered or what our preference was. We tried various appetizers. The octopus was excellent, as was the wagyu carpaccio. The presentation of the dishes is excellent, and the quality of the dishes very good. We enjoyed the taste very much. As main courses we ordered the dry aged porterhouse, the grade five Australian Wagyu rib-eye, and the shrimp pasta. The prices of the steaks are high, but they are good. Frequently eating dry-aged steaks In Europe and the US, we have a good comparison to top steak houses in those regions, and Bistecca doesn’t quite get to the five star level in our opinion. The flavor is great, but the texture of the meat isn’t on par with the best. We tried a few different sides, spinach, broccolini, and fries. All were great. All in all this was the best steak experience we have had in Jakarta, and we have tried many steakhouses here. We will come back for the ambience, the cocktails and also the food, even if we think the prices are a bit too high. And for the friendly staff of course. Ambience: 10/10 Cocktails: 10/10 Food: 8/10 Staff:...
Read moreVisited BISTECCA for the first time on a Friday evening with my close family and girlfriend for a intimate dinner. A cousin recommended the place and said that the place had great steaks. I visited BISTECCA during a caviar and martini event.
The restaurant is located in 18 Parc Place SCBD, I'm not sure what the building is for but the restaurant is by the front lobby so it is easily accessible. The parking however, is awful. We decided to not use our driver that day but turns out to be a mistake. There was a lot of parking space but there were so many really tight turns, low ceilings, and guests have to park in P2 which does not have direct elevator access to the lobby so we had to take the stairs to P1 and then an elevator to the lobby.
I reserved the dinner for 18:00 but arrived early at around 17:20. But we were seated immediately which was great. Our table was situated beside the kitchen with an open bay which is nice because it had a view but also not nice because the heat emanating from the kitchen was melting us. It was very quiet when I arrived but soon grew crowded as the night progressed.
We had scallops, potato chips, brioche, and caviar for starters. We also had drinks such as the Hojicha Tini, a Bloody Mary, a Arancia Tini, a Negroni, and mineral water for starters. The food and drinks came all at once so we could eat together. The starters were amazing, fresh scallops and excellent caviar. The condiments accompanied the dish very well.
Then, we had the main course which consisted of a ton of wagyu steaks, a lamp chop, and some pasta accompanied by an array of sides which included parmesan spinach, french fries, truffle mash potatoes, and more chips. We ordered extra alcohol, some tonic, topped up the mineral water, and opened a bottle of wine to go hand-in-hand with the steaks. The steaks were cook to perfection, wine were top of the class, sides were to die for.
We finished the night with fun conversations, laughter, some more Negorni and Martinis, the apple crumble, a few scoops of ice cream, and a bitter chocolate mousse. A perfect ending to an amazing night.
The price was also great considering the quality of the food, the service, the ambience, and the experience.
We also met chef Luca who was an amazing host and provided a lot space for feedback and explained stories of the different meals we had to us. I definitely recommend...
Read moreMain Course: I really enjoyed their steak, the dry aged was wonderful. The pasta was OK, it was good but it wasn’t like amazing. What’s amazing is their truffle mashed potato, ohmy, you have to try that out, especially if you loveee truffles (like me). The taste of the truffle is really strong but not too much. I tasted the goose liver, it wasn’t for me but one of my guest enjoyed it. For the main course, I love their steak the most.
Dessert: The baked alaska was a bit too sweet for my taste, but they I do recommend their crème brûlée! It has alcohol in it and quiet strong too, but it’s not bitter or unpleasant, I would rate it as one of their strong dish. Their orange cheesecake’s also good, but it’s quite heavy, so I would recommend it for sharing, the same with their tiramisu (contains alcohol). I didn’t say it’s bad, it was tasty but just a bit heavy for me. One of my guest also enjoyed their apple crumble, but for me it’s only so-so. (Preference, i guess)
Drink: I love their moon tea, it’s fruity and really pleasant. Their italian soda is more of a smoothie rather than a soda, I couldn’t taste any soda in it.
The only complaint I have is the seating area. My guests are sensitive towards cigarette and I requested for non smoking area. Unfortunately, the employee didn’t inform me beforehand that the bar is smoking area (even though it’s in the non smoking part). They put us right beside the bar and from there we were able to smell the cigarette and it was really uncomfortable for my guests.
The restroom was not comfortable at all. I would suggest you to go before going there, it’s dirty...
