Located at the center of SCBD, I would say Beer Hall has a strategic place for office workers and university students to have a good time, socialize, and have some drinks.
My opinion: The beer is expensive and would say the same with other alcoholic beverages. I understand this because of the location. Another disappointing issue was some of the waitstaff did not have adequate competence when taking orders and serving, for example, a waitstaff mistakenly served a macchiato when it should have been a mojito (the bar/restaurant was not even packed during that time). The service quality did not match the price that I was being charged.
My understanding that after 7 or 8 pm, the management puts a ridiculous minimum charge for a table for 4 and 5, which the bill should have a minimum order of IDR 1.5 million and 2 million respectively. This is very clear who are the target markets of the bar/restaurant during this period.
However, the pizzas were nice especially the hamburger, Quattro Formaggi, and Margherita. Other finger foods such as nachos, chili fries, etc, were also delicious.
My Conclusion: Given the high prices that the bar/restaurant is offering, the minimum charges per table, and the disappointing service, I would not go back to Beer Hall. There are heaps of alternative bars...
Read moreI cannot comment on the quality of the beer or food as we didn't get that far.... We didn't book, which perhaps was short sighted, but didn't seem like a problem when we walked in to the cavernous room with dozens of tables as all except about 2 of them were empty. The person who greeted us at the door dismissively waved us in and we looked for a table to sit at. This was difficult as most tables had reserved signs on them. When we finally saw one without a reserved sign we were stopped by a manager who asked us what name we booked under. When he discovered that we hadn't booked he immediately told us there is a 2 million Rupiah minimum spend. All we wanted was a bit of food and a couple of drinks... He then told us if we wanted food we would have to be out of the table by 9pm - this statement was made at 8.25. Like I said, the place was empty. We made an effort to reason with him that, just maybe, there is a better way to run a bar than to have it empty at 9 o'clock on a Friday night. He laughed. We went to Beer Garden just over the road which had a perfectly adequate drink selection and a much better atmosphere. Later in the evening we went on to Skye bar which was much nicer, and had a minimum charge an eighth that of Beer Hall. We were just baffled that anyone would run a business...
Read moreThe go-to pub in Jakarta SCBD where live music and weekend party vibes amped up to the fullest. Went there several times — all during the weekends, and all the live music bands are always the best quality and can always bring the atmosphere up. Their songs lineups are mostly for the crowds born in 80,90, and 2000's. Live music starts from 09:30 PM-10:30 PM and the 2nd from 11:00 PM-00:00 AM.
Every Friday and Saturday expect a full house, so better book a seat first via their WA. 3 person high table has min. charge of IDR 1,500K, 4 person table IDR 2,000K. 6 person sofa from IDR 3,500K. Indoor smoking is allowed here, but it's bearable since the place has a high ceiling and good circulation. Valet parking is IDR 40K + tipping. Toilets are scented and even have amenities like mouthwash to gargle.
Basic cocktails like Negroni and Whisky Sour were good. They also make good proper food here: Chicken steak was juicy and properly done. They have a wood fired stove for the pizza, Beef bacon and garlic chilli pizza is surprisingly good. Super Nachos, Fish and Chips are not to be missed as well. This is a well rounded establishment: full point on all aspects – from food, entertainment, and service. Always a safe bet when you run out of options for a...
