Chang Thien Hakka Kitchen — Restaurant in Jakarta

Started as an alternative to Angke Restaurant, but becoming the place to go when craving for authentic Hakka Chinese cooking. Offering a home feel sort of cooking with great taste (some claimed better than Angke's)

And most importantly you dont get the bloated after eating feeling or MSG overdose thirst that you usually get after having chinese food

However, service was just okay since they still maintain the old fashioned chinese culture which means that you need to wave your hand or even call the waiter to get service and the toilet was kind of stinks due to the cleaning staff ignorance

I would still give them a full score for the food & price that they offered...

Typical simple no-frill wonderful Hakkanese restaurant that's been around for decades but still maintains its place as one of the best hakkanese restaurants in Jakarta. The classic pak cham kai (salted steam chicken), deep fried frog legs, stir fried fumak vegetable with eel or beef, yam ha (salted steam prawns), fish head soup and the list goes on and on. Unfortunately, this cuisine seems to cater more to the local "chindo" taste buds but might probably not accord well with foreigners' palate. Forget about desserts, hardly any. Price wise, food is very good value for money or cheap, portion is large and sumptuous. I...

Our whole family loves Hakka food. Chang Thien is one of our favorite restaurant. Our favorite dishes are:

1. Steam Chicken
2. Fried Noodle
3. Sweet & Sour Pork
4. Stir Fried Pig Stomach with Son
5. Lumpia Udang

The only thing that dampens our experience is the limited parking space. The restaurant's cleanliness still needs improvement.

I reccomend eating @ Chang Thien on weekdays because on weekends the restaurant is very crowded.
