was going to say the food was really nice, i ordered the truffle mac & cheese and my husband got to try their organic roasted chicken. nothing to say about the food except it was real GOOD!
BUT… for this kind of restaurant, with food this good, elegant ambiance, I expect to have the good services also as it’s not always about the food only.
First, we came to the main entrance, and had to wait about 5 minutes standing there just staring at the officer who was on the phone with the other guest. It’s totally okay but, after she hang up the phone, she was just staring at the tablets and not even see my face, not even saying any words (well I expect she would say “sorry, ada yg bs dibantu?” somethimg like that, nothing too polite. And then I told her the reservation name, and she was like the reservation is 11.30 and I was like ok then what time is this? 11.17 she said, and she also said that the table was not ready yet. ok then I wait for another 10 minutes. At 11.30, I came back to her and asked whether our table is ready or not, AND she gave us the table that was empty from the beginning???? and i have to wait another minutes for the chair and another chair for my 2 y.o daughter because the restaurant ran out baby chairs. first she wasn’t so nice, second why would you give us the table anyway from the first place? it’s available anyway? i dont get it, correct me if you have any explanation.
Second, I ordered my foods and beverages, and the staff told me that the Mamamisu contains alcohols, and i was like ok and not yet ordered the mamamisu yet. and then after the meal, i told one of the staff that I want to order Mamamisu, and I waited for almost 30 mins maybe and I asked the staff whether my Mamamisu order finished or no, and she said “oh saya cancel kak ordernya karena saya pikir kakak gamau kl ada alkoholnya.” then I was like…. nobody confirmed anything to me to cancel the order?.. then I ask her one more time to explain and she was like sighing (menghela nafas kencang) and said “aduh gimana ya jelasinnya” as if i’m a stupid person lol. ok then I said i want to pay and not wanting to order no more.
i really expect that this restaurant with the food this good to have a good service also. it’s so sad, hope Franco can improve the service, i think busy times and fully booked was not really a good reason to have a...
Read moreFranco Ristorante is a modern Italian restaurant located at Bumi Pakubuwono, Jl. Bumi No. 15, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. Founded by Chef Jonathan Tjandra, a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Australia, the restaurant offers a contemporary interpretation of classic Italian cuisine, with bold and innovative flavors. Franco Ristorante embraces the “modern Italian” concept, blending Italian culinary techniques with flavors tailored to local palates. Chef Jonathan describes this approach as “modern Italian,” which allows for exploration of new ingredients and flavors while staying true to its traditional roots.
The interior of Franco Ristorante is designed with warm and elegant tones, combining wooden elements, decorative plants, and colorful stained-glass windows. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining areas, creating a comfortable atmosphere for various occasions, from casual lunches to romantic dinners.
Some of the dishes I tried include: Funky Cheese Pizza as an appetizer, Dry-aged Chicken as the main course, and Tres Leches as dessert.
The Funky Cheese Pizza at Franco Ristorante is one of the dishes that reflects the restaurant's signature creativity. The pizza has a soft and fluffy crust, providing a pleasant texture when eaten. The walnut topping adds a crunchy element that contrasts with the melted cheese. One of the standout aspects of this pizza is the use of honey as a natural sweetener, providing a balanced sweetness that complements the savory flavor of the cheese. However, some guests prefer a larger portion of honey to emphasize the sweetness.
The dry-aged chicken at Franco Ristorante showcases innovative culinary techniques. The 11-day aging process results in tender chicken with a distinctive aroma that whets the appetite. Served with honey sauce and roasted cherry juice, this dish offers a balanced blend of sweet and savory flavors.
The tres leches dessert at Franco Ristorante is a delightful finale for sweet tooths. The soft sponge cake is soaked in a mixture of three types of milk—evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream—creating a moist texture and rich flavor. The whipped cream layer on top adds softness, while the fresh fruit topping provides a...
Read moreTLDR; the food was sublime; the exact manifestation of delicious food taste of mine, compact and unique wine list, humble and kind service thanks to Nova the Sommelier (Bravo for him!), great ambience but a bit noisy.
I came to Franco during Ramadhan, didn't expect it to be crowded yet I've got the seats for me and friends. A table given is a bit small, but that's just a beginning.
I ordered some dish recommended by the staff; Hamachi Crudo, Linguine ala Vongole, Mortazza, and Branzino. Usually, restaurant menu don't have any image so we can only imagining what the dish would look like but I didn't expect the staff understanding of my preference is detailed and thorough and his way of explaining the food is sharp and I get the gist of what he meant. I could pictured it in my head and he gave me a recommendation that's not only a good meal as it is but a whole sequence that harmonious from start to end.
I fall for the recommendation twice, and that time was for the wine. I forgot what brand it is, but he kept repeating this word; Maurverde; which Ive never heard of it. I expected some usual bop, but he gave me an orchestra. I'm no connoisseur, but I'm satisfied. Like, really.
A place a bit too noisy but I enjoy every second of it. Staff really helpful, attentive; he even tried his best to look for a table so we could seat comfortably. But what's made me fall in love was really a single gesture; his assurance to me to get back to our table just to take a photo of us, and he didnt do it half heartedly even when the restaurant is crowded. It's what make it different between regular service and real hospitality. The experience is worth the money.
Maybe I was in luck yesterday, but I'm glad I came to Franco before I have to leave the...
