Handi by Brasserie at Le Méridien Jakarta is an exceptional dining experience for anyone who loves Indian cuisine and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I had the pleasure of enjoying their Kasuri Methi set menu lunch, paired with a couple of mocktails and cocktails, and it was truly memorable. From the moment I walked in, the Indian-inspired decor and soothing ambiance set the stage for a fantastic culinary journey. The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff who made the experience even better.
The Kasuri Methi menu offered a thoughtfully curated selection of dishes that were both flavorful and beautifully presented. We began with Bharwan Mushroom, tender button mushrooms stuffed with bell pepper and cheese, cooked to perfection in a tandoor oven. The Lahori Seekh, minced lamb skewers with rich Lahori spices, was equally impressive. For the soup, the Dal Lasson Ka Shorba, a lentil soup infused with fresh coriander, roasted garlic, and black pepper, was comforting and full of depth.
The main courses were a feast of bold and authentic flavors. The Chooza Makhani, a creamy tomato-based chicken dish with fenugreek and chilies, was a standout. The Baingan Bharta, a roasted eggplant puree cooked with herbs and spices, was smoky and delicious, and the Delhi Dal Handi, black lentils simmered in tomato puree, butter, and cream, was rich and indulgent. These were served with fragrant plain basmati rice and an assortment of freshly made Indian breads, which were perfect for scooping up the flavorful gravies.
To end the meal, we were treated to Jalebi, a delightful dessert of deep-fried pretzel-shaped batter soaked in sugar syrup. It was crispy, sweet, and utterly satisfying.
The drinks complemented the meal beautifully. My favorite cocktail was the Boozy Mango Lassi, a refreshing blend of rum, mango, yogurt, milk, and kaffir lime syrup. The Handi Bloody Mary was a unique twist on the classic, featuring vodka, tomato juice, green chili, fresh coriander, and a zesty mix of spices. For mocktails, the Mango Lassi was a perfect non-alcoholic alternative, while the Maharaja Magic with tamarind and mint syrups was tangy and refreshing.

I was warmly greeted upon arrival, setting the tone for a wonderful meal.
Now, onto the food – absolutely delicious! 😍 I opted for their mace menu, which included a welcome drink, appetizer, shorba, main course, and dessert. Each dish was bursting with authentic flavors that showcased the best of North and South Indian cuisine. Here’s what I tried:
Appetizers & Main Dishes: • Aloo Kulcha Amuse Bouche • Vegetarian Kebab Platter • Bharwan Mushroom • Garlic Naan • Aloo Gobi Home Style • Baingan Bharta • Dal Handi • Mixed Vegetable Dapalam • Paneer Lababdar
Shorba: • Dal Lason Ka Shorba
Dessert: • Narangi Khulfi • Jalebi
Drinks: • Welcome Drink • Jal Jeera • Buttermilk • Maharaja Magic • Mango Lassi
The flavors were top-notch, and I loved the plant-based and vegetarian options available. If you’re looking for an authentic Indian dining experience, I highly recommend Handi by Brasserie. Can’t wait...
Read moreI have been to Handi many times but it’s been a while since last ate there, so I decided to eat there again, as I have always loved their food. However, this recent visit was not up to the mark.
We ordered a variety of dishes — starters and main course. The appetizers (Papri Chaat, Paneer Tikka, Aloo Tikka) were excellent, just like before — flavorful and made exactly as requested.
However, the main course (Paneer Lababdar and Veg Pulao) was extremely disappointing. We had clearly requested non-spicy food, something Handi has accommodated in the past. Unfortunately, the food was so spicy it was nearly inedible. For a 5-star hotel, failing to follow such a basic instruction was frustrating.
We also learned that the Indian head chef wasn’t present, which may have contributed to the inconsistency. The team did apologize, and we appreciated the complimentary dessert and attentive service. They also gave us yogurt to offset the spice. However they mistakenly added the mani course food to the bill which they removed after we pointed it out.
Overall, while the starters and service were great, the main course experience was a letdown. I hope Handi can sort out the transition in their kitchen and bring back the consistency we’ve...
