Hause Rooftop Setiabudi — Restaurant in Jakarta

As a rooftop lover - the good ambiance is one thing. But this becomes not important anymore once we experience bad service and poor empathy/sensitivity from the service provider.

The place back to normal since last month, packed and full of people. This place is one of my favorites, but the service is not.

One time I have reserved a table for 2 and ask them by phone to locate me at a table that allows us to have a peaceful conversation, instead of by the time I arrived, they put me at a table next to the music speakers. I asked them to move us to the high chair table that seems like less noise. But they declined and told me that the table was already reserved and because of me not request specifically high chair table (but I saw an empty table is available). I feel disappointed, how can I know they have high chair table options and far from music speakers when they did not even inform me about it. So I decided to leave and find another place.

On the second visit -- me and friends want to have a fine dessert before go home -- that was already 10.30 pm. One waiter told us that we only can order the drinks. We said, "ya ok!". Until we sat and finally calling for orders, which we served by different waiters and he was happy to give us our order not just for drinks, but also for ice cream and cookies melt. Don't you hate it when the waiter takes your drink order, only to come back to the table and say "so sorry, this drink is sold out" (Fresh Garden Mocktail), then takes your replacement order (Kombucha I am Magical), only to come back again and again inform you that the drink is sold out? The place is dark and the inside could do with a better ventilation as it smells strongly of grilled beef when you enter. Let me grab my phone, switch on the LED flashlight and try to decipher the menu... Who knows what they also don't have tonight? After drinking a bottle of sparkling water waiting for my friend, I ask for something else interesting I found in the menu (Super Green Shot) and I'm told that... it's sold out, only available at breakfast ;) Finally a drink that they served (Backyard, a Hause creation) unfortunately, the scented basil (a leaf perched on the glass) and lemongrass (a stick that acts more as a stirrer) are nowhere to be tasted as the lemon juice overpowers everything... never mind the clove syrup. Well, I don't want to continue reviewing, unless I can find something that will redeem what's a quite forgetful experience so far. Running a restaurant is tough business and the owners try hard and have obviously high standards and ambitions. I opt to give them the benefit of the doubt and an average 3 stars that says "it's ok" And by the way, I'm still waiting for...

Actually this place is cozy and a perfect choice for hanging out with friends after office or in the weekend, but their service is very bad.

According to their Instagram account, they provide reservation through WA chat. Then I decided to send a messege through WA. They didn't give any feedback quickly, so I called them to reserve a table for that night. Around half an hour after I made the phone call, they called me. They asked me about the reservation (because I sent a WA messege), then I told that I have already called them. They said that they wanted to make sure that my name had already on their list, but in a very bad way. The worst than ever.

The reservation should be for 7 pm in that night. Busy traffic made me arrived at 7.20 pm. I asked where is my table, but the host is didn't have manners. Then I asked the waiter, they just asked me for waiting in bar because they need to clean up my table. But please it was already almost half an hour that the time I reserved. Around 10 minutes later, I asked the host because for cleaning a table won't need more than 5 minutes. She just said that there were still customers using the table. Very unprofessional.
