Kedai Sirih Merah — Restaurant in Jakarta

Despite being centrally located in Kebon Sirih area, I didn’t notice this restaurant until our friends recommended a dinner here. Located inside a Betawi house with vintage touch expressed through the paintings & decorations depicting cultural heritage from Dutch colonial era, this Indo-Chinese restaurant exudes classical charm in a casual homey way which makes you feel as if you’re going to enjoy dinner at grandma’s place.

Serving ‘peranakan’ food as their specialty, here are some that I find outstanding: Asem Asem Iga, Soto Betawi, Sop Buntut & Sapi Lada Hitam. The authentic taste & quality ingredients really brings back good memories although the food is a tad on the pricey side compared to its kind.
