Kopikalyan Menteng — Restaurant in Jakarta

I was introduced to Kopi Kalyan from Jakarta Coffee Manual in 2018 - if anyone even remembers (lol) - and they have been one of my favourites ever since!

🍽 Tonight was my second time visiting Kopi Kalyan’s branch in Menteng, and this time during iftar. It wasn’t too busy, considering we’re nearing Eid. The space is quite large and clean as well.

☕️ I love how Kopi Kalyan has different menu at each branch, so it is only acceptable to try different menu every time I visit! Some of the menus we ordered tonight were: (1) Pisang Goreng, (2) Cakwe Ayam, (3) Tahu Isi, (4) Cordon Bleu, (5) Pho Brisket (Ramadhan Special), (6) Koffee Kreme, and (7) Citrus Brew. Everything was DELICIOUS! Especially Cakwe Ayam. The combination between Cakwe + Ayam + the special sauce (!!!) was amazing. Citrus Brew was my drink of choice to cleanse my palate after the meal. So refreshing! I definitely want more.

🌙 My family and I had a delightful iftar tonight! I recommend everyone to give Kopi Kalyan a try - at any of their branch. Hehehe.

🥺 Kopi Kalyan used to have a menu called Ayam Goreng Single (around 2019-ish if I am not mistaken?) and a collaboration menu with Stack called Es Kopi Milkshake. I still think about them to this day. I hope they will do a “Kilas Balik Special” and bring back both...

So this coffee shop opens at 7 and all menus (yes, all! Including the heavy duty ones) are available for order! The service was good, the place is spacious and aesthetic for those who like to take photos. Interior is minimalist.

For foods, we had tahu goreng isi (stuffed fried tofu). Comes in 3 pcs in quite big size. The stuffing was a lot and had nice tasting. Have it with the dipping sambal or cabe rawit and voila! Very nice! Then, we had nasi goreng kebuli with tenderloin cost about 85K(before tax) and the taste was very good. The curry flavour was quite strong without overpowering other elements. The portion was big enough for share. Bangkok fried chicken with rice was also nice. Took a while to serve but it was worth it. You get 2 pcs of chicken, crunchy, cooked and marinated well!

Went here 11AM Sunday, not so crowded. Located in Menteng near RSIA Bunda, accessible by bus/train, has adequate parking space. Serves specialty coffee & non coffee along with some food & bites at an upmarket price.

I had their chicken kebuli fried rice (which takes 15 mins) and kalyan herbs tea. The fried rice comes at a generous portion although too oily, the tea is strong but refreshing.

Place is ample in indoor & outdoor seating, however the centre sharing table can get too cramped & direct sunlight gets too hassling. Servers are super helpful, lots of electric plugs, wifi is strong, and aircon is ok.

Overall will come back here for sure (for work), but won’t expect to get a seat past lunchtime as it gets way...
