Beautiful restaurant set up in the old colonial building at Central Jakarta.
this restaurant is famous for its colonial setting, exquisite interior design, and Indonesian fine dining. I love the decorations and the paintings as well as some objects being displayed, including books, traditional dresses, vases, teawares and more. The dining room is divided into rooms uniqly named like Sirih, Gambir, etc.
They offer quite a variety of menu, starting from appetizers, light meals, main courses (with rice, beef, chicken, seafood and vegetables dishes) as well desserts and drinks. They also serve beer, wine and cocktails.
We tried iga cabe hijau, Ayam goreng tangkap, ikan Kakap goreng or deep fried snapper with mango sauce, green beans saute with mince beef, and sate lilit. Love the food! It's tasty and the serve it fast.
It has upper floors so it has more dining areas. There is mushola or praying room on the third floor as well.
The entrance has small steps, so it might be a bit tricky for the wheelchair users but still manageable ♿️✅.
The space between tables are quite spacious actually and the staff can help ensuring those with reduced mobility can have enjoyable dining experience. I don't see the lift to reach the 2nd and the 3rd floor though. They have outdoor section where people can still smoke.
Parking space is small. So if it's packed you can use valet service or park in...
Read moreThe food was amazing. Everything served was tasty, right amount of serving size and beautifully presented.
Bear in mind I had no idea of the dish name because I didn't order by myself, never seen the menu since I was seated. So I'll try to describe the food as best as I can.
Start with crispy chicken fingers sprinkled with sesame seed and tumis kecipir It was my first time eating kecipir and I actually never thought it was so good.
Next I had (kind of) beef soup. Consisted of diced cut beef, sliced tomato, peanuts, etc. It was flavorful and tasty from the broth.
After the soup, I had white rice and pandan green rice formed into a cone wrapped with banana leaf. They also served with various satay, kentang balado and other things I forgot. I would say the satay was tender and juicy and kentang balado was spicy enough as suggested by its name.
And it ends with dessert from 'tape'. A bit crispy outside and soft texture inside. Sweet yet you can taste tangy from the fermentation and I think it was alcoholic as well. It had been a long time since I had seen (kind of) 'colenak/tape'1 served as a dessert, so it was a bit of a surprise as well as reminiscing about the past.
Sorry no pictures of the food this time. I was here for a meeting with a client, and she asked me to not use my phone...
Read moreOur recent experience at Bunga Rampai was an unexpected delight. Having made a last-minute reservation to host a small family gathering of about 30 persons, we were pleasantly surprised when they allocated their rooftop venue for us.
As for the food, the set choices were excellent, encompassing a range of diverse and flavorsome dishes that catered to all taste buds. One of the highlights was the restaurant's willingness to adapt their menu for the young kids in our party who couldn't handle spicy food.
However, there was one slight hiccup - the food service timing. Due to a communication gap, some of the food was served late, arriving after some of our guests. While this was a minor setback, it's something the restaurant might want to look into improving for future events.
The service throughout the evening was impeccable. The waitstaff was attentive, promptly cleaning tables and always ready to lend a helping hand, which made our gathering run smoothly.
A minor issue was the bathroom - with heavy use, it became smelly quite quickly. While it's understandable to a certain extent due to the large crowd, perhaps there are some measures the restaurant can consider to maintain cleanliness and freshness throughout...
