Rendezvous Restaurant can be considered one of those generational gems, a place so beloved that it’s passed down through families. Many parents, like mine, recommend it to their children, who in turn continue the tradition. This enduring popularity speaks volumes about the consistency and quality that this establishment has maintained over the years. A true culinary treasure that’s more than just a meal, it’s an experience worth sharing across generations.
A dining experience that feels both nostalgic and timeless, giving an undeniable authenticity that is increasingly rare in today’s fast-paced dining scene. The food, a classic take on chain Chinese cuisine, far exceeds expectations, delivering flavors that are both comforting and deeply rooted in tradition. The presence of the elderly couple who owns and runs the place adds to the charm, with their hands-on approach ensuring that the quality and atmosphere remain consistently warm and inviting.
What truly elevates the experience is the ambience, especially at night. The lighting and elegant curtains lining the restaurant create a classic Chinese-Indonesian dining setting that fosters a slow, intimate, and leisurely heartwarming cuisine. It’s the kind of place where you can savor each bite and enjoy meaningful conversations in a relaxed, almost nostalgic...
Read moreFor chinese food lovers, Rendezvous is one of the most recommended chinese food restaurants in town. Serving customers since 1973, this restaurant maintained a classic style, just a simple table-and-chairs setting in a not too spacious dining room, but of course it's fully air conditioned.
After countless times visiting this restaurant in many different occasions, I came up with some of my personal favourite: Bistik Saus Mentega: ayam/babi/sapi (Steak in Butter Sauce: chicken/pork/beef all is good!) Nasi Goreng Ham (Ham Fried Rice) Fuyunghai Udang/Kepiting (Prawn/Crab Fried Floured Meat Scrambled Egg) Angsio Tahu Seafood (Braised Bean Curds and mixed seafood) Kailan Jagung Muda Jamur (Sauteed Kailan, Baby Corn & Mushroom) Siomay Gohiong Udang (Prawn Spring Rolls)
Most of the dishes come in pork & non-pork options; they also have different menu book for them. All food comes in generous portion (you can share it with 3-4 ppl) & reasonable price so it's great if you come in groups. Beware it could be hard to find a parking spot during peak...
Read more5 stars for nostalgia. This place is a time capsule. It brought me back to 1980s. The decor, the curtains, the presentation of the food and the vibe. The taste of the food is that same old good taste of the 80s. All those nostalgia taste. Easily the top 5 chinese restaurant in Jakarta. No gimmicks, no fancy cooking. Authentic favour, authentic taste. They provide both Hokkien style dishes or more Indonesian style cooking. Prawn rolls here are very authentic Hokkien style with generous fillings. Lor Mee is generous in both ingredients and potions . Indonesia style cooking can be seen in its way it fried rice and noodles . Overall highly recommended to drop by. The atmosphere here...
