Sushi Tei Central Park Mall — Restaurant in Jakarta

Probably the most popular sushi place in town, Sushi Tei serves affordable & tasty sushi and vast range of popular Japanese food since 1994. The queue is usually long during meal times & weekends especially. They have 3 types of dining area here: sofa bar (our favorite! Easily pick any plates from the sushi belt while sitting on the comfy sofa), table dining, and sushi bar (our least preferred spot since it would be least comfortable if you want to stay longer).

My favorite picks here by segments: Appetizers: Salmon Skin, Chuka Wakame House Specialty: Unagi Roll (eel sushi roll), Jumbo Dragon Roll, Fuji Roll (salmon, crab stick & tamago sushi roll) Salad: Wakame Salad (seaweed & fresh vegetables), Sashimi Salad Sashimi: salmon! Always my favorite 😋 Makimono: Salmon Crispy Aburi (half broiled salmon, crab stick, omelette sushi roll) Yakimono: Hotate Misomayo (grilled scallop with miso & mayonnaise sauce), Gyuniku roll (beef with golden mushroom), Agemono: Shisamo Karaage (deep fried smelt), Ika Geso Karaage (deep fried squid head) Nabemono: Kinoko Sakamushi (mixed mushroom soup) Wanmono: Salmon Belly Misoshiru — my favorite miso soup! Sushi Tei at Central Park Mall has always been a favorite sushi spot of mine. Today, I ventured into trying some new dishes that I don't usually order. First up was the katsu ramen, and while the soup was delightful, I found the ramen a bit too soft for my liking. The katsu itself was a tad bland, but the portion of noodles was generous, perfect for sharing between two people.

Next on the menu was the curry katsu rice, with a katsu similar to the one in the ramen, just larger. The curry leaned towards the sweet side for my taste, but it did have a good amount of potatoes in it. It might not be the best curry I've had, but it was still enjoyable.

Moving on to the maki sushi, it was decent overall. The standout among them was the stamina roll, filled with chicken and cashews, providing a unique texture and great taste that stood out from the rest of the sushi offerings at Sushi Tei.

Regarding service, while Sushi Tei generally offers excellent service, today's experience was a bit different. It seemed there might have been some trainees or new staff, as I received the wrong items at my table a few times. The restaurant is located next to Kintan Buffet or across The Ducking. It's a nice place to enjoy and eat Japanese Food especially S U S H I! This restaurant has a great ambience. The waiters and waitresses are affable and very welcoming. Most of the foods are tasteful with affordable price, my favourite foods are Sanma Shioyaki, it's a fish grilled with slight salt, and Salmon Sashimi. Sadly, I had a problem with the Salmon on my last visit, it had a lot of fishbone in it, I've never had this happen to me before since the Salmon was a fillet, it should be boneless. But, the Captain reacted to my complaint so fast, he apologized, checked the kitchen why this could happen, and asked me if I'd like to order other menu, what a great service!
