Update edit (20 August 2022): The business owner just replied with the "professional ctrl+c, ctrl+v cookie cutter response", 7 months after my initial review. Sorry, I'm not a BQ lover. I only love food that are well made and not falsely advertised. When the owner does not even bother addressing the issues and instead went for the copy paste response, you know that they don't care. Don't believe me? Check recent owner responses for yourself.
TL;DR (Too long, didn't read): Upper management/owner decisions left the lower and middle management people on their own by selling things on menu that are not provided in the real dish and left them to face customer's critique.
To start with, I have to say that I ate at this place before, like a few years back with family members. Back then, this place still have a menu (not like the current one) called En papillote. When I ordered this dish, it was not fully cooked through, but it was exactly as what I known it to be.
Fast forward to present day, I went there to eat again, with family members as well to give it another chance. We ordered mushroom soup, grilled chicken, risotto omurice, and salmon en papillote. I thought it would be just like old times, couldn't be more wrong.
The waiter "misplaced" the order at first, which meant we had to wait for a good amount of time (without drinks which we also ordered) with nothing on the table. The place was packed, but seemed like there's not enough waiters around. I didn't really mind this issue, since the waiter did apologize and the manager gave us free fried fish skin, which is a good effort on their part to make amends. I've been on FOH before, so I can relate.
The food finally arrived, soup was good, omurice was... weird? The first thing I noticed when I opened the egg cover and tried the rice, it felt like normal fried rice, not risotto as mentioned in menu. And later on after talking to the manager, I realized that it was actually fried rice.
Grilled chicken dish was the only one that saved this review. The chicken was cooked nicely, along with decent sauce, that's about it. Salmon en papillote though.. was truly hideous.
Why? Have you seen the BBC youtube video about a method to cook fried rice but they rinse out the cooked rice? This is the same exact equivalent of that video. And the worst part? The dish had pasta in it and it's not even "en papillote". If my cooking school instructor had seen me serving this dish, I would not be embarrassed if he throw the kitchen sink at me
The upper management truly thinks that they can simultaneously retain their cake and eat it. To the normal masses that doesn't know the difference, they don't care. But to people that do know the difference between risotto (which uses medium grain rice and are more expensive) and long grain rice along with that en papillote monstrosity, it meant that they tried to misled these people, and at best, is false advertising.
People come to eat at your establishment and paid real money.
In the end, I could only said so much even after I confirmed about the risotto and that other dish debacle. I did not put any blame on the managers or lower staff. It is all on the upper management for such abysmal decisions where the menu actually went freefall off the edge of a cliff.
I probably won't come back to this place. Just beware if this review gets deleted by the business and to the people that are thinking of eating here, eat somewhere else where the business at least doesn't try to lie and rip you off your hard earned money when you wanted to eat something...
Read moreWe visited when the mall was quite empty and the service + delivering the meal was very fast. The dish was served hot and it took around 10 minutes for the hot pan Tokio Chicken Goulash to arrive.
The staff was attentive and descriptive when explaining the menu. The menu variation was also straightforward and clearly laid out in the menu book. They have Japanese fusion dish which really suited Asian palate.
The fried rice truffle was a nice twist to upscale your regular nasi goreng. There is a promotion package where we can choose up to 3 sampler size side dishes which we happily tried.
The potato wedges was cooked and fried to perfection, the batter was crunchy and savoury. The fish & chips had 2 fish sticks and 2 potato wedges, the fish batter was too thick for my likings and the taste was quite bland, but it's suitable to scoop up the remaining goulash from the pan.
The tokio chicken goulash was nice, the rice was fragrant with a hint of spice from chili flakes. The goulash itself was not too strong, more like goulash inspired since they made it halal (not using beer to cook the broth). The chicken pieces mix with mushroom were cooked really well.
As the dessert, we tried the caramel pudding which had a really nice caramel sauce (watery texture, not sticky) and the consistency was quite solid, but...

If you are feeling adventurous, try their Pluffy, Cloud Benedict or Beef Tokio Goulash. The dishes are quite unique and adventurous. Example Pluffy is basically very fluffy omelette in which the consistency is almost like souffle. And then you also have cloud benedict which is a spin off from egg benedict, the egg is baked instead of poached egg. I would suggest you only try either one of the dish in a single meal as not all people can eat two of them in on go (they can be too much for your taste bud). Other than that they also have dessert and noodle. The service is very good and the...
