Toby’s Estate Hublife — Restaurant in Jakarta

As a worldwide chain with great reputation, I feel a bit disappointed when I was visiting the venue.

First impression was the place look nice. But, there's where the fascination started to fade.

It was near the evening and rainy. I can feel the aircon breeze, I need two restroom breaks to warm myself up during my visit.

It was nearing evening, thus I opted for Chai, but they don't have it at the moment. I request for other recommendation, I told the attendant that I wanted something creamy but it's out off my coffee time, but instead she showed me coffee like Chai latte, dirty Chai or affogato instead. I found that it's not that helping so I opted for peppermint tea instead. My friend had a calamari.

The peppermint comes in a big pot, brewed dried mint leaves. For the asking price and loose leaves, I'm expecting a great mint leaves, however the peppermint taste is so weak, as if it's been brewed for the third time. The calamari was just alright, nothing special, the tartar sauce is just ok, but we think that chilli sauce taste better than the tartar sauce. Probably personal preference.

All in all, it's great for photos and building personal on social media, but nothing else, for such asking price, I'll go else where that's more comfortable and...

I visited here with my 2 friends. We ordered 3 drinks and 1 sliced cake. When my friends finished their drinks, the server immediately cleaned up their cup then asked us if we wanted to order anything else. It could be fine if they asked us once. The problem is 2 different servers asked us 3 TIMES CONSECUTIVELY although we had politely declined. It really made us uncomfortable. Felt like they wanted to send us away if we didn’t make more order. Funny thing, the cafe wasn’t crowded; only 2 tables were occupied including ours. And there was no waiting list too obviously.

Reading how other reviewers also had problems with the servers’ attitude, it seems not only me. So sad because the coffee was good. But because of the servers’ attitude, I will think twice to...

We visited Toby’s on Saturday, ordered coffees and snacks to accompany us playing card game at the cafe.

The first staff then came to inform us that card game is not allowed to be played in the cafe, but we can finish our round. So we continue.

Then another staff came, scolded and asked us to stop playing and we cannot finish the round. We complained because the first staff said we can finish our round, when we explained, the second staff walked away without a word with smug on his face.

After that, the second staff shouted “goblok” to the first staff in front of us which really inappropriate and rude.

If we can give 0 stars we would because of the service only. We were really uncomfortable and will not go back here, or any Toby’s in Indonesia for...
