Kekeb is what you come to Bali for, not another sad plate of fries pretending to be “local cuisine.” This seaside Balinese restaurant has its tables set right by the beach, so you can sip a cocktail while the waves roll in and pretend you are in an Instagram ad for “finding yourself.” The vibe is laid-back and chill, exactly the kind of place where you can sit back, relax, and let the spice burn a hole through your soul in the best possible way.
The food? Bold, flavourful, unapologetically Balinese. There is actual heat here, not the pretend kind where a sprinkle of chili flakes has tourists fanning their tongues like drama students. If your idea of seasoning is limited to salt and pepper, consider this your final warning: Kekeb will slap your taste buds awake and then laugh at your tears.
Yes, prices are definitely geared toward tourists. But unlike some joints that water down the sambal and call it “fusion” (translation: bland enough to keep Karen from Yelp happy), Kekeb respects the food. No pandering, no pretending, just real Balinese flavour. Honestly, if you came all the way to Bali only to order a burger and fries, just stick to the tourist traps in Kuta where that stuff belongs. Kekeb is for people who actually want to taste Bali, not for those who think “adventure” is extra mayo on a cheeseburger.
The service? Impeccable. The staff are warm, attentive, and somehow manage to keep smiling while dealing with tourists who ask, “Can you make it not spicy?” in a restaurant literally famous for spice. Bless their patience.
In short, Kekeb delivers on flavour, on service, and on atmosphere. Just leave your burger cravings at the...
Read moreOur experience at Kekeb was absolutely delightful, thanks to the impeccable service provided by Beni. From the moment we arrived, Beni went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, even providing mosquito repellent to make our dining experience more enjoyable. His attentiveness and genuine care truly made us feel like valued guests.
Jharot was also very welcoming and great fun! Definitely set the atmosphere of the restaurant and made us feel at ease coming in to eat!
Now, let's talk about the food. The fish satay was nothing short of amazing. Tender and flavorful, each bite was a burst of deliciousness. And the itik bebek was simply divine - succulent, fresh, and cooked to perfection. It's evident that the chefs at Kekeb take pride in sourcing the finest ingredients and crafting dishes that are both satisfying and memorable.
And let's not forget about the breathtaking view of the beach from the restaurant. The serene atmosphere and picturesque scenery added an extra touch of magic to our dining experience, making it truly unforgettable.
Overall, our time at Kekeb exceeded all expectations. With excellent service, mouthwatering dishes, and a stunning view, it's no wonder this restaurant is a gem. We left feeling thoroughly satisfied and already planning our next visit. On arrival my partner had to use bathroom so we waited for her. The worker wanted to seat me down on my own before my partner. I said I will wait for her. She insisted and said can I seat you now before your partner? I felt rushed. Most of the staff were extremely nice though.
Took a total of 25 minutes before someone took out our order. It then took 9 minutes for 2 beers to come out.
After a 20 minute wait for food the mains and appetisers came out at the same time! Appetiser is suppose to be first. Half our food went cold because we had so much to get through at once.
The vocalist singing tonight was not good. She can not sing and the quality of sound coming out of the speaker was horrendous making her sound worse.
Kekeb tried their best to please us after the poor service by giving us 2 free glasses of wine and removing our entrees from the bill which was nice. How ever I felt I needed to leave an honest review.
It’s a shame we had a negative experience here but hey that’s hospitality. It cannot always be perfect. It was only a let down for me because I was taking my girl out on a special date and of course it went pear...
