The Laguna - ‘a Luxury Hotel & Spa’. Any hotel with a name like this has high expectations to live up to. The Laguna does not disappoint…..
From the moment you arrive you are greeted with a warm welcome and welcome drink. The friendliness and helpfulness of each and every staff member is a testament to the management of the resort and the Indonesian people. They go above and beyond with their willingness to help you in any way they can.
The Hotel grounds are immaculate and extremely well maintained. There is not a cobweb in site - even in places you would think must have them. We saw staff members washing stone walls around the outside of the hotel….every little detail seems to be maintained to a high standard.
We started our first full day with a couples massage at the Spa. Erwati and Desak provided our massages and were excellent - one of the best and most thorough massages we have ever had. Highly recommend a spa treatment here. The whole spa team were warm, helpful and friendly - including Ayu, Sri and Sari.
Breakfast at Banyubiru restaurant is fantastic…a buffet of high quality cuisine, fresh fruit, cakes, tea, coffee, ice cream - all of the staff and kitchen staff were amazing. We have to give a special mention to Krisnha - he was exceptional and attentive. Even when not serving our table area he made a point to come and speak to us and see if we needed anything, nothing was too much for him - a lovely guy.
The Manager of the Banyubiru is Ayu who was also amazing - all of the staff are so friendly and welcome you with a smile and nice greeting.
The beach at the resort is a little dissapointing but we have been fortunate to have travelled to many beautiful places around the world so maybe we have been spoilt. Don’t get me wrong - the beach is ok but not one we felt we wanted to spend alot of time on (not a beach for snorkelling). The good news is that the resort has several pools - including lovely saltwater ones. Our favourite has two large waterfalls in front of the Gym and Spa, several nice water features and two man made small beaches. We rented one of the pool cabanas on several occasions - and even had dinner in there one evening. Even the roof of the cabana was cobweb free! Amazing and truly impressive how well the resort is maintained.
When we rented the cabana, the towel guys set up the cabana with towels and also bring fresh fruit and bottles of water at a time you can specify. Sudra was always very attentive and helpful to us - a lovely man whom we cannot thank enough.
We ordered cocktails / beers from Saphire bar and Sweety - at Kulkul beach house was always so nice and helpful to us. She even made us some balinese desserts and fruit and brought them in from her home for us to try - which was so kind and thoughtful of her - we really appeciated this.
The gardeners do a fantastic job, the pool cleaning team are out in force all day working their way around each pool, thoroughly cleaning them, even wiping down the stone walls and tiles. They remove the leaves etc from the pool several times a day.
We had a couple of minor issues with the room but these were rectified extremely quickly and Trisna the head of housekeeping came and spoke to us to ensure everything was ok. She even arranged for flowers to be sent to our room to apologise for any inconvenience. A big thank you to Trisna for all her help and her fantastic housekeeping team who cleaned our room and left nice notes for us.
If you want a relaxing stay at a nice resort then we highly recommend staying at the Laguna (Nusa Dua). A lovely resort that is very well maintained and the friendliness of the staff and their hard work make The Laguna such a great place to stay. Bali is a long way from England but we have loved it here and hope to return in the future. If we do - there isn’t anywhere else we will look to stay.
THANK YOU to EVERYONE at this beautiful resort. We have some amazing experiences and memories from our stay and many of the staff we now consider friends...
Read moreJust come back for a 6 days 5 nights trip at laguna. While during the stay, we did no complaints to the hotel because the staff and manager are actually SUPER nice and we can understand they have great pressure and busy by serving some official event, but honestly Laguna is not a perfect place for enjoyment during our stay.
[❌❌Suitable for Kids Family/ Privacy]
Too many big conferences and official event holding here, there should be many other better choice like Westin for kids family, or you want a total relax vacation.
Unluckily , we were celebrating our anniversary by taking 2 one year old twin, however during the days staying its the same time with government event and there are men wearing very official, walking around the pool and lagoon area and you can see them anywhere, its a bit bothering when girls wearing the swimming dress hang around the resort while those guards and soldiers keep standing at some place staring at you to see any suspicious, and some of them are smoking.
We do not get any notification in advanced by the hotel and also during check in so we are quite confused at the fist 4 days.
I can totally understand its their job but as an visitor its definitely not a release. You can image you fly 6 hours to a Bali vacation resort place, but the soldiers and government people sit aside you having the buffet breakfast with you, the guard standing nearby when your kids are playing sands, and you can see so many of them during a couple private stroll in the resort.
We feel super creepy and confusing during the first 4 days as my experience.
The resort is above average but not a suitable place you need whole relax or with small kids.
[👍👍Room] As a Bonvoy Titanium member after placing SNA, we were upgraded to a executive suite very is very exciting. The hotel had renovated since 2020, you can see most of the interior new but still keep some old-fashion furniture. Bed is fantastic, we sleep super well everyday.
-Service:
[👍Most of the staff are super friendly]
The service is brilliant after the government event is over, they are kind with us and give a free pavilion on our most favorite spot, and we got total relax only on our 5th day since the guard and soldiers are gone. The manger even gift us some Byredo hair washer after she knew my wife and I were fascinated in the smell at our first luxury collection hotel in Jordan.
[❌❌❌Charged for the pavilion even the sling chairs are full]
This is the first time I went to Marriott resort and is charge to the pavilion.
At our first time heading to the kids pool, unfortunately the sling chairs around the kids pool are all occupied by adults (Theres no kids swimming in the kids pool), and we saw there's a empty pavilion nearby and sitting without thinking, the staff nearby was a bit shouting saying ITS Not FREE, and not saying hows the price. Honestly I am quite shocked and just leave the area to find a faraway Free sling chairs to sit then carry our twin babies walking back the kids swimming pool.
Very unfriendly to kids family experience.
-Activities:
[❌Balinese dress-up ] For weeks ago before staying, I had wrote an email to the hotel saying if its possible to dress up for our 1 yr old babies, they are super kind saying yes will be a special tailor to make for babies and we were super looking forward to it, but surprisingly on the day we got a NO during the event, its was very disappointing to us and the kids.
[👍👍👍Balinese Hat making] A very special experience.
[👍👍👍👍👍Arwana Restaurant]
The Arwana Sunday brunch is a must try, all the staffs are super friendly and playing with our kids around, making them sleeps, or cutting some small strawberries for them. Also vey enjoyed time for adults, oyster are very fresh and delicious.
[👍Breakfast] Is just average, quite good but not surprising. Bread and Juice are our favorite
[👍👍👍Surrounding/ Lagoon /swimming pool / beach] The salt water lagoon is very amazing, they spend large manpower everyday to clean it and maintain this enjoyable...
Read moreFirst up, staff customer service is perfect and hotel should be congratulated on such good training. The cleanliness is really good. We had room 115 king, laguna access booked as wanted to experience the swim up to your balcony. Probably wouldn't book again as balcony is tiny and quite impractical. Would reccomend something less expensive, like a third floor king bed room with inner courtyard and see view. Beds super comfy, fresh, sheets changed daily. Air-conditioning perfect. So many different areas to explore and relax in. Free shuttle bus to Bali collection for shopping, which is ok but expensive. Breakfast is amazing. Such a variety to cater for everyone. Can go at any time from 7 till 11. Best coffee I've had. I like the assortment of loaves of bread and can cut to your own liking. Never a queue for food. Everything freshly made all morning, which is great if you rock up like we did at 10 each day!! Can have takeaway coffee ice coffee etc No shortage of beach beds. They have a policy of removing belongings if unused for an hour, great stuff. So unfortunately the germans cant clain with their towels!!Each beach bed has a QR code for ordering drinks food etc and a buzzer. Many different pools. Cleaned every morning and evening. Cabanas can be ordered. Good value at $22 Aussie per day or $13 half day. Comes with fruit basket, little assortment of sun cream, mosquito repellant and after sun. Well worth it in my opinion. Hint 601 is best by the beach or 615 where we had by the waterfalls, very relaxing and shady. Rooms can get made twice per day. Or they knock and ask if you need anything, water, towels etc. Sink was draining very slow. Was fixed within the hour. Had a spa couples massage 2 hours, which was super expensive $485 but both really enjoyed it. It's perfectly relaxing, with sound of waterfalls outside. Therapists were really super professional, no gossiping during massage and well trained. You have a choice of massage oils (3), which is nice You can use steam sauna for free before if you want as well or during the day. Starts with foot scrub and massage, then 90 minute Balinese massage. Blissfully, both fell asleep regularly! Then 30 minute facial. Followed by some fruit and chocolate dip. Don't do the massages alot but this one was exceptional. Felt very lethargic all day! We had breakfast and dinner included. You get a voucher for dinner to enjoy a 3 course menu where you can choose from seven starters, variety of mains, and about seven deserts. If I was returning again, would just have breakfast included. The food is without a doubt, very very good. The steaks are amazing, well worth the extra $20 you have to pay. The pasta and sauce isn't great, very thick tomato paste. Barramundi, Salmon and Basque grilled chicken, also amazing. Wine is pretty good, ranging approx from $18 to $28 a glass. Negatives, very minor Sometimes the bread, which they served with main meals is cold and stale and sometimes it's super fresh, hot (steaming when you cut in half). Could be consistently fresh served. Very minor, tried the services for men's haircut and Shampoo $60 as hair was a mess. Booked for 6pm but after the massage ended at 4, was told could do the haircut as hairdresser was ready. Agreed and had haircut, for whatever reason the hairdresser cut was very uneven and my partner had to point out areas that were sticking out. Which were then re addressed but left with wonky hair. The lady had to lean in very close to see. Normally expect a shampoo first, but this was offered after the cut, which I declined as just wanted to go. Overall, was a welcome relief to find a hotel (booked at last minute) that exceeded my expectation at all levels. I booked it on the great reviews and thought I would add mine. Will definitely come back. Hint if you sign up to the free Marriot bonvoy app, you get 15% off...
