This is not my first time nor second time eating at Bari Uma, however, I was at Beachwalk. Last Sunday I decided to try the new store at Dewi Sri. I ordered 3 different ramens and a cheese Gyoza. I should've walked away because before I ordered, there was a guest asking for his order as he had been waiting for a long time. After that, it was followed by a Japanese man who left his ramen untouched and told the waitress that the ramen tasted horrible. Still, I gave it the benefit of the doubt. I thought it couldn't be that bad, but I was wrong. I had to wait for almost 35 mins for my ramen and the Gyoza is a no show. Only when I ate the ramen, I understood what the Japanese man had said. The ramen felt like it'd been cooked in a rush and the broth didn't have the usual rich taste. The mushroom tasted like it wasn't properly seasoned. After 1 hour, the cheese Gyoza was delivered but it was burnt. You can see it from the pictures that your kitchen staffs were trying to cover it by putting a lot of sauce on top of it. You can't hide it! It was burnt and dry. How dare you serve a burnt food to your customer? If you can't control your restaurant, you shouldn't have opened it yet. The staffs were clearly not properly trained nor ready...
Read moreMy reviews are always objective and fair but this was one of the most confusing and unpleasant experiences I've had in Bali. Even ordering was very confusing, the waitress said it was Happy Hour and the Set was included - the only reason I opted to add a set otherwise why would I when I don't even enjoy small pork bites and don't drink green tea. I even left the free tea full and unconsumed. The waitress is either new or doesn't understand the menu. I know English is a second language but they should have someone who understands the menu to take the order. I nearly left when ordering but entire restaurant was empty and felt a little obliged to stay. Upon going to pay I was told the set was not included which was a bitter surprise, not because of the money, but just based on principle why would I order something I don't enjoy and wouldn't usually order unless I was told it was included in "Happy Hour". Due to this poor customer service experience I would not return and there are plenty of other ramen options in Bali...
Read moreHad the runs after having the set meal here. I suspect it's the pork gyoza, as it had the funky smell and sour taste. I finished it thinking heyy it won't be that bad rightt, oh I was so wrong.
Conclusion: Ramen had a thick broth but again, it's salty and had me drinking gallons of water afterwards. Thanks MSG.
Second floor seating was pleasantly cool with aircon (I was there on evening so no comments on the Bali's daylight heat). Also WiFi was weak on second floor and I was forced to listen to my partner's nagging.
Not many space for car parking but you'll find the neighbor's free parking space available mostly.
Price wise, hmmmmm yeaaaah alright , still reasonable. I just didn't like the frequent visit to the loo that night. Please make your gyoza fresh. It's not that complicated at all and you can always keep it in freezer. Also please for real, use corn flour/potato starch if you're serving winged gyoza/hanetsuki gyoza, as AP flour doesn't give gyoza that...
