A Taste of Naples in the Heart of Denpasar
If you're craving authentic Italian flavors, this spot delivers a true taste of Naples right here in Denpasar. From the very first bite, you can tell there's real care put into the food.
The tomato soup was an absolute delight warm, comforting, and bursting with a beautiful acidity that was balanced perfectly by a touch of cheesiness. No overwhelming seasoning, just a well-executed dish that lets the ingredients shine.
The pizza dough was everything a good pizza base should be slightly rubbery, fluffy, and crunchy, just the way tradition dictates. And the sauce? A revelation! You could really taste the fresh tomato essence with just the right hint of acidity, making every bite flavorful and satisfying.
While the beef salami on my pizza could have been more robust in flavor, the VIP burrata pizza my wife ordered was a standout the burrata was rich, creamy, and delicious, paired with high-quality meat that elevated the dish. Even the lime juice, despite a touch of bitterness from the seeds, was refreshing.
Overall, this was a fantastic dining experience one of the closest you can get to enjoying real Neapolitan pizza in Bali. This place honors the beauty of simple, quality ingredients, much like how Europeans appreciate the pure flavors of seasonal produce. While some might expect a heavily spiced or overly processed taste, this restaurant stays true to authenticity.
Despite a couple of minor preferences, like the salami and the lime juice, our meal was thoroughly enjoyable, and we will definitely return for another slice of this...
Read moreTo be fair I'd never been to this restaurant before and I am only doing a research here, but I'd say I already love the owner's reply to a "low score" comment.
Back when I graduated, I used to work in an Italian Restaurant in Sai Kung(Hong Kong) that owned by Italians (the boss claimed he was from Napoli but I m not too sure), who are passionate in their home country cusine, as a frontline staff I kind of share their passion as well.
Yeh, for the authethic italian pasta, it may be consider "undercooked" by most, even for some that used to... the so-called "Italian" food.
However for those that LOVES the real and traditional pasta (& risotto), the al dente is really what really we aim for.
The pasta in the pictures is almost identical to how the Italian like it in my memory, not too saucy, and a bit drier than most non-Italian think. (Penne alla Carbonara I guess?)
Still remember there was a time my boss was in a same situation, questioned by a guest that the pasta served was "undercooked". My boss just "kindly" waived the bill and "kindly" suggested the guest to choose Pizza Hut or other so called "Italian" fast food next time.
Ah, lots of memory... even the pizza magretia is almost the same as in my memory, (except the crust), tomato, mozeralla, BASIL, "the colour of the Italian flag" the old...
Read morePizza: dough too thin, too moist and undercooked. Pasta: either undercooked or dried out from reheating, served only lukewarm. Bread is 20k and only 3 tiny baguette pieces, whereas other Italian restaurants serve it for free. Taste was ok (though a bit on the sour and salty side) but for the prices they are asking, better to skip this place altogether. There’s so many better options out there. When we left the waiter asked us how the food was and when we said it was just ok and could’ve been better, he said ok and walked away. He didn’t even bother to ask what the problem was. As a European who has been to Italy many times I can cook better Italian food at home to be honest.
Edit to add after owner’s reply: it’s clear from all his replies that the owner can’t handle constructive criticism and would rather belittle customers than look at his restaurant objectively to improve it. And about the bread, it’s not like we knew beforehand how little we were going to get, because if we did, we wouldn’t have ordered it. And of course we finished our plate, it was edible (just not very good) and we paid for it. Now we know what the food is like, of course we are going to eat somewhere else like you suggested and...
