So.... I'm a regular customer at a Starbucks outlet in Jakarta. But I'm quite surprised with the service in this outlet. I just want to grab a quick coffee and snacks before my trip to Amed. I thought that the service would be quick (as usual), but I found that they missed my order. I ordered one matcha espresso, one cappuccino, one brownie, and one tuna puff. One of them was totally skipped (not even included in the bill, but it's okay, I also forgot to recheck), and one of them took too long to be served. When I came, the outlet was not busy at all. But after I ordered, suddenly there were a long queue and one of my order get lost in track. I had to ask them a few times to remind them that I haven't received my brownie.
And don't forget about their strategies for upsell. I was asked for "do you want the espresso to be medium or strong?" The question was different compared to the usual question that I met in my regular outlet (they usually asked "do you want the bean changed into Sumatra Bean?") , so I just said medium. Medium is billed as an additional Dewata in this store. I don't know if this is because the outlet is located in the airport area or because it was a special bean. But be cautious if you don't want to see additional costs...

And these stupid thin paper straws. OMG. Have they tried using these themselves? Trying sucking up pieces of chocolate 🍫 with these straws. The straws also turn soggy real fast. Plus the fact that they are serving my drink in a plastic cup with a plastic lid. Go all in, or stay out of the pool. Don’t just dip your toe in the water.
Update August 2025: They have two Starbucks in the domestic airport now. One after you pass security and one near the arrivals gate outside.
