Koono Gelato — Restaurant in Malang

I will give this ice cream shop a 5 star since it has variety flavours of ice cream, the texture is soft and smooth, and it’s not too sweet (which is good) yet you can still taste the flavour. Good ambience, clean and good service. It also has a playground so it’s very recommended for those who take their kids also.

But, there’s one thing that I think is an issue in Koono, it’s the taking orders and paying system. It’s kinda messed up. Especially when it’s crowded, a lot of people would gather in front of the display and there seem like there’s no queue, everybody is giving their orders to the random staff in front of them. And the staff is also overwhelmed by the orders and they can’t seem to tell the cashier effectively. I’ve experienced this twice, so I went there with my family, I’m served by staff A, and my other family members are being served by the other staff, so when I get to the cashier, we will have to wait for the staffs to tell the cashier what we just ordered.

I think it would be effective and easier for both the clients and staff if the ordering and payment system are fixed. Maybe a solution to this issue is to pay in advance for the size of cup/flavours, then the clients are given the receipt by the cashier, then the clients give the receipt to the staff behind the display therefore there will be no waiting and the queue is easily arranged. 🥠 F & B (+) Mixed Berries Cream Gelato Cake: It’s as beautiful as delicious! The flavor is a perfect balance of sweet and tangy, super refreshing! (+) Watermelon Lychee & Passion Mango Smoothies: Both are amazing! The sugar is served separately, but honestly, even without it, they’re already naturally sweet and legit! Definitely a 10/10. (+) Nusantara Platter: The plating is just as impressive as the menu itself. Leans towards savory and umami flavors. The lumpia filling reminds me of Sosis Solo. (+) Custom gelato is available!

💁 Service (+) Huge appreciation for the entire team! From the parking attendant’s precise directions to the cashier’s excellent product knowledge and the waitress’ fast and friendly service, everything was top-notch. (+) Serving time: 5–14 minutes. (+) Most of the staff are attentive and very polite 👍🏽

At first, I came to this place because it was so booming in my town. Decided to go there this afternoon n found out that the queue was pretty long because of the payment which used DC/CC wasn't work well! But this is not the point why I dislike this place. Then, our turn to choose our gelato, while waiting for our gelato, I heard some girls behind me placed their order and the owner YELLED at one of the girl (she was only missheard what the owner said). But yelling at your customers ? Big NO for me, and sorry to say this but my friend went to this place again and the same owner YELLED at her too just because my friend was taking 5secs to decided the flavor she wanted to buy. Back to the gelato itself, I couldn't find anything special on it. I bought rhum raisin, tasted not soo fine with very thin smell and taste of rhum and raisin. Also bought milk rose (better) and regal (not really tasted like regal). Mum bought cappucino, rocky road (I didn't even find the difference with other type of chocolate or cookie) and salted caramel (tasted fine, but I prefer milk rose). Price ? Kinda expensive (maybe because I've tried other gelato places that sell better than this and much cheaper tho). Almost forget, actually my mum and I wanted to enjoy our gelato in the car, we bought another take away gelato but we have to wait 15mins she said.
