Nine House Kitchen Alfresco — Restaurant in Malang

Been curious and interested to come to this place. But hesitate bcs all publications I found online were all about daytime ambience. But when I found out they have live music this night, I just knew that this would be the right time of my first visit! Super happy to finally come. Below points are highlight of my visit: Place is nice, yes instagramable, but different seating area offers its own attractiveness. No reservation on live music night, could mean waiting to be served. It didn’t took long, as they have many seats. Didn’t manage to be seated indoor (where the band performed), but outdoor also nice Order accuracy need to be improved. 2 of 9 orders came different as ordered. I ordered Iga Bakar sambel ijo but came with different sambel, I assumed it was sambel limo. They changed the sambel eventually. Ordered gelato strawberry durian, but got gelato chocolate durian. Waiter said that the other waiter/server note it as chocolate durian so didn’t get the replacement. Zzz Toilet signage weren’t available yet. But the toilet were clean and neat. Wide assortment of meal and beverages. Western, Italian, Indonesian, are available. Some menus are OoS / not available. Hoping for better luck next time 😉 Meal tasted good 👍🏻 appetizer and dessert also 👍🏻. Lychee and Peach tea were both slightly too sweet, not sure if they add additional flavor...

Basement for parking (available for around 12 cars and the rest for motorcycle). Nine house is at the top of the building. Arriving at the 3rd floor, you will be welcomed by the waiter or waitress to ask if you have made reservation. We need to fill in the guest book which consist of name, phone number, address (usually filled with city only, not specific address, and number of guests). After that we can choose our seat. Available seats are indoor and and outdoor. Usually the table arrangement are for 4 and 8 persons, however they can suit our preferences. They have building with good air circulation during this pandemic. The waiter and waitress are fully vacinated and wearing masks. They are helpful and friendly. The toilets are quite bright and clean. Most menu consist of western food (pizza, pasta, salad and steak), but they have some Indonesian and Japanese food as well (salmon mentai with rice, nasi iga bakar madu, nasi ayam kemangi, etc). You can find the full menu on their instagram account. The food price range from Rp30,000 to more than Rp100,000 based on your selections. Foods and drinks are all delicious with the right taste and worth the price. They took 20-30 minutes to prepare the foods and drinks. Place suitable for child age 3 above up to elder...

I usually enjoy dining at Nine House, but my recent experience was disappointing. I ordered Wonton Kuah Mala Susu first with the intention to add more later. Unfortunately, the server (named Zin) did not take note of my order properly, did not show a welcoming attitude, and the food arrived much later than usual compared to my previous visits.

When the food came, it was the wrong dish (Wonton Kuah Mala). I politely asked if it could be replaced, explaining that I cannot eat food that is too spicy. However, the response was unhelpful and dismissive, with no attempt to resolve the issue, even after I offered to pay more just to have the correct broth. I still fully paid for my order, but left unsatisfied because the service problem was not addressed.

Eventually, I was offered to take away the wrong order, which I declined. I have also submitted a complaint to the management and I sincerely hope this feedback will be taken seriously. I understand this was a small order, but hospitality is built on simple principles such as attentiveness, accuracy, and a positive attitude toward customers.

I truly hope the management ensures this situation does not happen again, as Nine House has always had great potential and I believe service quality should...
